well i have been into cleaning cars, for friends, myself and customers for quite some time. i have always been really anal about my personal cars, and if anyone here has ever seen my 98 in person, you can tell. well, its been bothering me lately very close to my car i had the typical 9 year old surface fine line scratches and what not in my paint. i've been doing alot of clay bar treatments to cars and hand waxing and honestly it really sucks. it takes a long time and at 30 years old my hands hurt. all the time, they do not have nearly the power they had 10 years ago, all my knuckles and joints in my hands are sore 24/7 now. so i had a conversation with my father about detailing cars, and buffing and all that, and i took my mothers car into my shop and gave my parents a nice little treat with a full blown detail, they absolutely loved how the car came out. after telling my dad how i have to do all this by hand all the time, he suprised me with a 7 inch variable speed buffer/polisher made by chicago tools i believe. its no top of the line by any means, but totally awesome. it has the velcro hook and loop style backing pad for quick change of buffing, cutting and polishing pads, so i bought a bunch of different foam pads of various sorts from St. Pete auto detail supply early in the week and tried my first job on my 98. i bought a big bottle of black ebony scratch and swirl compound and went to town with a medium cut pad. i cannot even begin to explain the way the paint looks, it is the most amazing job i have ever done, the car looks like it just rolled out of a spray booth. the surface scratches are gone, the paint is like a perfect black mirror. i am blown away, and the best part is i spent the money for the right stuff and there is not one single buffer swirl anywhere on the car. i still have to wax the car now, i changed to an ultra fine polishing finish waffle pad and waxed one fender so far and the fender is unbelievable! i think i am going to finish the car tomorrow and take some pictures, i need to find a nice place with tons of sun to get the reflections to show how insane this is. i seriously am thinking about starting to advertise. when i am done with my 98, i am going to do my deep jewel green 93 for my wife. i owe my dad big time, i hate gifts from anyone, specially when my parents dont have a ton of money, i never asked my dad for this, but he doesnt know how much i appreciate this buffer. i'll get some pics for you guys and gals to see, if you live in florida and want your car looking like a new ride again, drop it off, i'll make you smile!!!
