The air ride suspension mechanism that automatially lowers the car at certain speeds is now lowering it when the car is off so that the front of the car is now much lower than the back, It resets itself when the car is restarted only to drop back down again while in motion. The compressors have both been replaced recently but this problem still persists, it is said that this is a common occurence with this car.
Is thier something else that could be causing this other than a faulty compressor any help or information is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Saint Elmo Lincoln

RE: My mothers 94 Lincoln Mark VIII's suspension is malfunctioning???

It only has one compressor...

The problem sounds like it's a rear air spring leak.

If the compressor runs for 90 consecutive seconds it will turn itself OFF...

then the leaking rear bag deflates and lowers the rear.

Once you restart the car the system resets itself and begins to TRY TO KILL the compressor again.

So..

Replace both rear air springs, they are cheap compared to replacing the compressor AGAIN.

If you procrastinate,or "put it off" you'll still have to replace the rear air springs AND the COMPRESSOR.

Leaking bags= DEAD COMPRESSORS

It sounds like the FRONT air struts are bad, not the rear...John[link:mark8.org/lodnca|NorCal Chapter Website]http://mark8.org/users/johnaec/Mark_VIII_s.jpg'97 Mark VIII LSC'96 T-Bird 4.6L

Get new front airbag/struts from Eddie Spinks at American Air Suspension. His combo of price, after the sale service and hands on knowledge can't be beat.

Not really, the rears require only to jack the car up.
Disconnect the soleniod
Twist to remove
Twist to install

only tool required is "the jack" and a "screwdriver".

The rears are FAR more easy than the fronts.
