My new kitchen!

Well, it's not even completely finished yet, but for those of you who remember my old incredibly ugly kitchen, I figured I'd show you what's been going on around here for months now.

So since I'm having probs figuring out how to set up a subdirectory, if you want more pics, keep changing the last numbers til you get to 198.jpg

We're still not even finished. This has been so stressful, but so worth it. Seriously, when we moved in over 13 years ago I said the kitchen has got to go, and now, we've finally done it!

I loved that Martini glass in the center of the table. Pros for you for adleast getting the cocktail bar installed first. LOL

Looking good! Time to get rid of that 1985 hanging light over the dinning table.

LOL a little big for a Martini glass! But a damn fine idea. I'm sure Joe will test it out next time he comes over. :)

J, one room at a time, if you knew the fights I was having just to get a new entry light fixture, you'd understand. ;)

Lookin' good! :)

Now I know what Mrs. Driller will want next. :(

After 15 years or so, ours is looking 'dated'. LOL So do tell, what is the countertop material?

Countertop is granite. There are a few that are real cheap now.

Head off the kitchen discussion by buying her a new red car!

Strange you should start this thread as I learned some things earlier in the week. Like how expensive, much less what it is : "UBA-TUBA". They will be cutting it in about a week. There goes some car mods this summer.

Cheap granite? That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

What?! Buy another car!? Good grief!! LOL

Oh pretty Charlie! We got the Caldonia. I fell in love with some blue granite from iceland, but it was one of the most expensive out there. Did you go to the granite shop? We got to pick our slab out, and it was so quiet there, they took hubby on a little tour of the building. Some of the granites on display are amazingly gorgeous.

JP, remember, I have a small kitchen, so we aren't talking too many square feet, so that let me upgrade a few things as the price differences were minimal. And seriously, some granite's cheaper than pretty much everything other than formica.

And you know you NEED a Gen II. :)

Congratulations! Looks real nice, Sharon! :)

lol Charlie, I had the ubatuba granite counter tops done since around 2000, and they look just as purdy today, as the day it was installed. My sister liked the way mine looked so much that she did her counter tops with ubatuba too! :) It really is a beautiful stone.

When we picked our slab out we went to a huge warehouse in Newark, it had several large mechanized gantry cranes suspended from the buildings iron work.
Ours came from Brazil.

Lookin good!!!

Can I make a request for some new swivel wheelie chairs around the table? ...and maybe a kegerator or wine fridge?

:D -J

What's wrong with my chairs (excluding the fact that the cats tore them up, but they'd do that again to new ones)? I do need a new table though. And a big no to the wine frig for now at least. We currently have 2 frig/freezers, and 2 small friges, and actually no wine. :p

I love your chairs... could you have them recovered? would microfiber or whatever that fake swede is called work? I dunno if that cats would shred them up too...

If no wine fridge, then how bout this :D

No, cats will shred anything. They've even dug up the carpeting upstairs while they were locked in the bedroom during some installs.

That, however, is totally cool and may be needed for another room. Come and discuss with hubby. :)

Looks good Sharon. I like the counter top with cabinet combo that you chose and the floors too. Are you going to do a tile backsplash? I'm becoming a bit of an HGTV fan for the house makeovers.

EDIT: I finished looking through the pics and see the backsplash now. Looks good and very nice with the under cabinet lighting.
