My power door lock broke.

My driver's door power lock broke. It works fine with the key, and I can hear the actuator working inside. There is a fastener below the latch that seems to have broken off, I can see in the hole, the actuator jump around when I press the button. What usually breaks to cause this? Is it part of the actuator, or just a fastener that needs to be replaced?
Thanks.

If you pull the door panel off, you'll probably either see the little plastic flip connector is either disconnected or broken. You can just install the rod on the actuator back in the hole on the lock and use a zip tie to tie it back in place. Easy once you get the panel off.

Yeah, either that or find a rivet that big. I know a guy with a rivet gun big enough, but he has no rivets. We have some big ones at work, but nothing that big.
Is it possible to bolt it back in? I am worried that I will forget it doesn't lock, and I'll get robbed.

That's a weird coincidence. My pass door lock quit working all of a sudden the other day. I can't see in there but I got it unplugged so it would quit making that horrid noise every time I unlocked the car, start the car, put it in gear, take it out of gear and lock the car.

Can you actually take the panel off? I know the interior one but do you mean the shell cause I can barely get my hand in there.

No, you can't take off the outer "skin", well a body man can, but the average person can't. I haven't gotten around to fixing mine yet, been working too much, and it's been 95 degrees out here. Too hot for me, maybe next weekend i'll fix it.

When I replaced the actuator on my red Mark I just used a round top stove bolt, it worked great and looks similar to the rivet.

The rivet is a special rivet, It should be available somewhere. You might need a special tool too. Maybe the dealer would have the rivet and tool?
