Need new water pump - which brand?

Rock Auto has an Airtex water pump for $35, an AC Delco for $45 and the Motorcraft for $65.

Any suggestions? Will I be ok with the Airtex or AC Delco? Are they any good?

Also, do I need to order the gasket? Does anyone know if it is usually included?

There is not a gasket. There is an o ring, and they are included with the new motorcraft units. I have never used anything other than a motorcraft. I have one that came out of a 5000 mile cobra motor laying around. 10$ + shipping takes it.

Wish I knew that two weeks ago, I would have bought that in a second!! Just bought one for $40 and installed it last weekend. I went with a rebuilt, it's really only the bearing that replaced. Not too complicated a part, should be ok. Time will tell. I usually always go with motorcraft parts too, but just didn't think it was worth it on this one.

YES. Joe wouldn't steer you wrong.

RE: Need new water pump - which brand?

Unfortunately my father already picked one up for me last night at the local auto store, pretty cheap with his discount. The only thing is, I have never heard of the brand - GMB? Maybye I should return it.

Question, the new pump didn't come with the wheel that holds the belt. It seems I will have to unbolt the old one and put it on, is that normal?

Also, do I need to use any type of sealant on the O-ring?

A water pump is a water pump. You shouldnt have any problems. You need to take off the pulley from your old one. It is held on with 4 10mm bolts; leave the belt on as you loosen the bolts, otherwise the pulley will turn as you are trying to loosen the bolts. You shouldnt need any sealant on the o-ring.
