Personally i think it has gotten a lot uglier! The current gen 5 series looks nice... this one seems to be drawn on the new 7 series...

BMW still features the same 3 engines as before
525i: 2.5-liter inline-six, 184 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.
530i: 3.0-liter inline-six, 225 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque.
545i: 4.4-liter V-8, 325 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.

Sure Glad I Bought a Town Car. That thing....cover the grille up & you'd mistake it for the new Chevy Malibu of '04. It's almost identical! (Sans the grille, of course!)

It is a love it or hate it design. I like the front end but not the back. I watched a rode test review the other and they said the car drives extremely well.

RE: NEW 2004 BMW 5 series

ugh, i shouldve guessed that bmw was gonna design all their cars like the 7 series. they must've gotten alot of positive feedback from it to design the 5 almost exactly like it. i like the current 5 better but im sure ill adjust.

RE: NEW 2004 BMW 5 series

God, the new design team at BMW needs to be sacked. They had a beautiful design with the old seven series (E38), but completely butchered it when they came out with the new seven series. At least with the new five series they were smart enough to lower the trunk by six inches.

RE: NEW 2004 BMW 5 series

Most of the time when a car company redesigns (esp. BMW), some people give out negative impressions, and I think I’m going to include myself, but give it a couple of months or so, and you wouldn’t want to look at an older 5 series again.

RE: NEW 2004 BMW 5 series

I for one am starting to fall in love with BMW. If I had to choose in the past, I was a Mercedes-Benz guy, but I don't like them anymore. I'd rather have a Beeeeeemer. Well, of course, my FIRST choice is always a Jaguar XJR. :)

RE: NEW 2004 BMW 5 series

JD is right - the E38 was perfection. To this day, I regret selling mine. :(

Edit: I only *wish* I owned an E38. Mine was an E32. And it still looked classier than this monstrosity.
