New alarm Problems

This weekend I bought an Avital 4300 alarm with remote start at BestBuy. Is it okay to mention the name???? Their install group has had my car for the better part of two days fighting the same problem. The alarm was not a problem; but, remote start is being stubborn. The car will start, run for a minute, then stop. Repeats two more times. The installers have even gone back and got a different alarm package with the same results. They first thought the relay was wired wrong, but still the same answer. BB's installer is going to call Avital/DEI techs tomorrow to hopefully shed light on this issue. He was wondering if the car's anti-theft but be fighting the remote start. I was wondering if the Airride could be a problem. About the time the airride should start the car stops running. I had the installer turn the airride off at the trunk last night(sat) still the car stops.

My question to all of you is this. Has anyone ever installed an alarm w/ remote start, and have install issues? Throw out any ideas so that I might beat the installer aroun the head with your suggestions.

RE: New alarm Problems

I've my 2-way radio alarm/starter for over 4 yrs now, and the car is also a 95. No problems whatsoever, I did the install myself. They either missed one of the ignitions (not being powered up) or the units are bad. Why all the caraudio places are such a crap nowdays ???

RE: New alarm Problems

i had the same problem when i installed and alarm on my wife's mini van it was doing the same exact thing come to find out their are 3 options to sence the car is running
1- voltage drop when running
2- spark sensor (wire wrapped around any spark plug about 8 times)
3- a vaccume relay that makes contact ewhen car starts and creates a vaccume

come to find out their wasn't enough of a voltage drop when the car started so i used option 2 wire on spark plug never had a problem again...

putting an alarm in my mark this weeked i'll let you know how i make out ...

hope this helps

now the one question that i have is will my keyless entry on the door still work or do i have to do anything special to keep it working after i remove the factory alarm?

You can do away with the factory anti-theft module and still have the keyless entry functions(on a '93 anyways).
