So besides that fact that the corrected altitude last night was 2,000 feet higher and 45 degrees warmer than the night of my maiden voyage and the car wanted lay down a bit on the big end, I'd say the gears helped a bit. :D

2.21-60ft

9.60 @ 74.69- 1/8th

14.70 @ 93.19- 1/4

That's a good ET for a 2.2 sixty foot! :D

I don't know what it's problem is. It felt weak off the line until the IMRC's opened, then it pulled like a raped rabbit until the 1/8th, then it kinda leveled off and cruised the rest of the 1/4. I never spun a tire either. Weird. I've noticed that my ignition wires are a little brittle so I'm gonna change the plugs and wires and see what happens. :)

Remember that the higher the gear ratio the better the acceleration but the lower the top speed. So, that translates into a slower MPH in the 1/4 because the engine will be shifting sooner causing you to "slow down" towards the end of the quarter.

You still have something wrong with your car though and I would advise that you stop racing it until you figure it out.

I was running 13.8 @ 98MPH so you're MPH should be higher regardless.

I'm pretty sure it's the plugs and wires, but what do you think it might be? How did you come to the conclusion? :D

My car runs a 13.8 @ 101, with nitrous only. I got a pair of drag radials from KyleH and the rims + tires are a totall of one inch smaller. (Which also changes your gear ratio, I dont know exactly by how much but i know its better than the 3.27) I STILL ran a 13.8 @ exactly 101 mph.... Go figure eh ?

About the plugs... I would look more in to that first. My car has 150k miles on it with the original plugs in it !!!!!! So its probably not that. Not saying you shouldnt change them anyway. I just got me some NGK's but havnt put them in yet :)

I know the bad air friday night played a part in why it was slower than it should've been. I'm going to buy a compucar nitrous kit this weekend. I'm gonna wait to install it though. I've got a few more things to do before I put it on. :D

Why wait ? I laugh everytime i hit the switch, its like turning on another engine. People worry about puddling on a wet system but i beg the differ. Wet system seems to be the most reliable and safest.

I doubt that! Just because they say MotorCraft doesn't mean they haven't been changed.

I guess thats one way to fix your slow car. Sounds like a recipy for desaster. (damn, I can't spell right now, lol!) :D

Im sorry you doubt that, but its true, they are factory. I have a maintenence log that came with everything that was done with the car, and even in 02 it says "changed oil.. oil filter... fuel filter.. air filter..." then in caps it says " Spark plugs need a change ! "

And in another part of the log in december 06 it says " Still needs the plugs changed !!! " and it goes on to october 07 and says its still says needs plugs....

I looked at the valve covers where the coil packs are and it does not look like it has been taken off. I have the NGK's in now... and trust me.... they were orignal.

It could be, but you still haven't mentioned what you think is wrong. I don't know what else it could be besides plugs, wires, and bad air. Different altitude densities will definitely make a difference so I know if I had the same air as the original pass, it would've ran 14.50's. I wish i would've went to the track last night since it was 65 degrees instead of 90. :D

I track the actual weather conditions (temperature, barometric pressure and humidity) at the track with all my runs. Post race you can go to www.wunderground.com for almanac data of any location at any date/time. However, such data will almost always be cooler than actual track conditions.

I perform correction calculations on each timeslip to convert to corrected numbers to analyze any performance boost or trends. My favorite online calculator is on Modular Depot.

If you establish such a habit, you can accurately track your progress regardless of changing conditions.

I just tried the Modular Depot calculator and just rough guessing a few details, it said my corrected run should've been 13.98 @ 97.78???

... and just rough guessing a few details, ...

Use the date and time from your timeslip and look up the weather data for the track locale on wunderground.com - rough guessing won't cut it, you could easily be off several hundred feet in density altitude depending upon the weather variables.

Regardless, a single corrected run is not as proficient an indicator as the statistical mean corrected numbers. When you accurately track the data you will notice a definite predictable pattern.
