im a firm believer in Kazaa or any file sharing program that keeps me from having to spend money on CDs. there are, however, a few bands who i revert back to the old CD in exchange for money routine. the deftones are one of those bands.

i heard the new album was going to be harder and faster than their previous albums and was said to have some influence from some crazy bands like meshuggah and such. after purchasing this album, id have to say its a little laid back. i still havent heard the entire album yet, and that says something. back when adrenaline came out, i couldnt stop listening until my cd changer went to the next cd. the same could be said for the 2 albums preceding adrenaline. im guessing its going to be like white pony where i had to listen to the cd once or twice before i really got into it.

anyone catch the video for minerva? damn chino's getting fat.

RE: new deftones

got to listen to the rest of it today. not too many songs stand out like their previous albums: 7 words & engine #9 from adrenaline, lotion & damone from ATF, and knife party and passenger from pony. again, as i mentioned before, it took some getting used to with pony so im sure it'll be the same for this one. i just wish theyd get back to their roots in one of their albums.

RE: new deftones

i think all their songs sound the same. I watchted you change is pretty good but that one is old, no favorites on this CD.

RE: new deftones

yep, just as i said, it took me about a week to warm up to it. awesome cd. i keep buying their cds expecting them to go back to their roots and play some really hard ish. id still like that to happen but what theyre doing now is great too.
