New front fender splash well problem

I ordered 2 new front fender splash wells for '98 MK VIII.

The old ones were not in great shape after 114,000mi.

I installed the RF with no compilations.

Then I went to the LF. I shoved it up in there and installed the top center pin to hold it in place.

When I got to the front side it didn't line up correctly.

Here are some pixs, but it was hard to get a pix that shows the old and new lined up correctly.

This is the best pix showing the difference. It is along the bottom front edge of the wheel opening where the difference is shown.

These aren't that great.

Is it possible that the substituted a Gen 1 LF splash shield?

Sticker pt#'s are F7LZ-16102-AA & F7LZ-16103-AA

First. How much were these? I thought about replacing mine also!

But that last pice, the slash is on the outside. It needs to always be on the inside. Are you trying to have it set outside all over or was that just a "fitting" pic?

I just knew FLM was suffering a bad case of HUA! What you have is a left side for a 93-96. I went through this problem when I needed one for my 97, some years ago. According to FLM the current superceeded number is correct, and through my dealers' parts dept, couldnt convince them it didnt fit.

+1 for having the portion of the fender liner sticking out over the bumper. The only thing you should see on that last pic is the screws, NONE of the black liner should be showing on the outer edge of the front bumper.

Correct. It's tucked on the inside. The pix makes it look like it's on the outside.

Exactly what I thought. :(

Not a bad price!

I forget the product, but there is an aerosol spray detailers use to rejuvenate plastic such as the wheel well liners. I have an empty can in the garage to try and find some more.

i wish i knew you needed new ones i just threw away 2 perfect liners from a 97. i still have some on my loft but i just know these two were really nice because i just removed them last week. i have both 1st gen and second gen, i never knew they were different until i tried putting one from a 95 into a 98 mark, it didnt work!

Dang! I had ordered these back on 6/02/08. They were ordered thru Team Ford Parts Online. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214270

They actually don't have them. They drop ship from Vintage Parts out of Beaver Dam, WI.

Someone there dropped the ball as to shipping them and it wasn't until I called and pointed this out did I get them on 6/26/08.

The ones on the car were broke and cracked. The RF was missing the whole part that goes under the heel of the fender, where the 2 push buttons go.

After reading what whiplash15 went thru I decided to make a poster paper pattern to accompany the LF that will be returned.

This "Should" remedy any problem of sending the incorrect one again.

Here is the pt# sticker off the LF. I don't know if the style lettering on that sticker would have anything to do with it being mislabeled, but it was stuck on with scotch tape.

This is the sicker from the RF and it was stuck with it's own sticker glue.

Here is a different angle of the RF fender showing the splash well is tucked in.

Thanks for your help guys.
