After I got into an accident with my dads 95 Cougar I said I would buy him a replacement and I came home with a 93 Lincoln Mark 8 which looked great and ran good but I did not test any options (feels stupid) because I realy liked the car and impulse bought it. Anyway it turns out the power door locks dont work, trunk release, fuel door release, the power seats, and the radio makes a thump sound everytime you raise the volume. I went and made a few tests the trunk and fuel door will open when you take out the switch and put power to the wires. Also the door lock actuators door work when power is put to them. I checked all the fuses and they seem good I tried using the keyless to lock the doors and I tried using the remote all you hear is a click from in the trunk area and nothing happens and if you open the doors because they didnt lock the alarm doesnt go off. Does anyone know how to fix this Im pretty screwed at the moment I bought the car for 1000 dollars and its got 130000 miles on it so honestly I cant afford to take it to the shop, I can work on older cars so dont be afraid to get technical with things. Also does anyone know where I can get an owners manual the ford dealers coudlnt help.
Thanks
Anthony

I'm going to guess the remote keyless entry module and the fuel door switch are bad. Check panel fuses #5 and #8(both 15A).

For manuals, try www.helminc.com or ebay for factory manuals. Be sure to get the EVTM(Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) as well.

The thump in the radio volume may be the factory amp going bad. Do you have the factory JBL system, factory premium sound, or aftermarket?

Do the powerseats move at all? It likely is the seat module underneath the seat with the motors, but one thing you can try first is unplug the connectors at the back bottom of the seat and check for any buildup or corrosion interfering with the connection. Clean out any buildup, if any. Worst case scenario, have to live with it, buy used (still working seats), or bypass the module and hard wire the seat switches to the motors (would lose memory seat function).

RE: NEW GUY Needs HELP 93 Mark Electrical Problems

I messed with the car for a few hours in the garage last night I wound up cutting the power wire that is supposed to feed the power trunk and fuel door release and I ran a wire from that to the power feed for the mirrors now the power trunk and fuel door release work, also the door lock on the passenger side works but only from the switch on the passenger side door or the remote control. The seats now move everyway but front to back and when you try to move it front to back it looks like the seat moves on an angle like one of the tracks is stuck. Are they all on the same circuit because it seems like they all came back once i jumped that wire? Is it common for the keyless module to go bad theres a few of these cars in the junkyard by me and I was wondering how hard it is to swap the module is it the one in the trunk? Are they year specific?

The RKE(Remote Keyless Entry) module has control of a LOT. The schematic is intensive. Power door locks, trunk release, courtesy lighting, keyless entry pad on drivers' door, panic alarm, key fob transmitters, battery saver feature, etc...

I believe the '93-'95 are the same. It is in the package tray in the trunk.

I don't have any issues with mine in the '93, but the similar one in my '91 Mark VII LSC is flaky.

Is this the one behind the little door in the trunk that has the factory keyless entry code on it?

You can try getting another radio and amp out of one of those junkyard marks, hopefully cheap, and see if that fixes the audio problem. Might want to take a battery with you, to provide power to the junker, and listen to it's radio, before buying it. If it sounds okay, a simple swap may fix your problem.

Look up under the rear glass in the trunk. There is a decorative cover hiding the tray. Two pushpins holding up the side toward you. The factory JBL amp is in there, too.
