To keep me busy before the summer comes I picked up a new heart for my 1997.
Bill and I went to pick it up yesterday.
I was too tired from driving to unload it last night, but here it is:
Free ride in the monster for those who will guess what this engine is from. It is new, with no miles in any car. Don't let the cobra emblem throw you off though.

The engine will be getting new forged pistons and rods sometime soon.
It will be boosted and intercooled since day one at 12-14psi, hopefully enough to reach 500rwhp.

Bill you can't play this game ;-)

how did that intake get on it if it didn't go in a cobra?

did it go in a non-ford? detomaso/qvale mangusta maybe? what's that other little car that uses the 4.6... the koenigsegg or something... but doesn't that one come with carbon fiber valve covers?

That engine is beautiful!

I'm going to bring some cookies over and set them on the engine.
That engine is clean enough to eat off of, and I want to try it..:)

The engine was built to test the new fr500 intake and the close copy the aviator intake.
It is in fact a prototype engine, never made it to any vehicle though.
Cobra intake was thrown into the deal, as the engine came with no intake at all from Ford (like they would let the cat out of the bag early ;( ).

Aluminum block, 03-04 style heads. New forged bottom end going in soon.

So besides the heads any other major difference from ours? If you don't mind me asking how much did that set you back?

I think he is referring to...it WAS a prototype engine "test mule" for intake designing for the FR500.

They used an existing block/head combo, for testing...when done, they removed their prototype intake, slapped an existing intake design on it, and sent the mill down the road.

so, since it is still a DOHC block, he can build the bottom end as if it is a Cobra/Marauder/Mach 1, swap any compatible head on (if need be), and use his intake of choice.

Nice seeing these mod motors get like the old 351W...

I have no way of knowing what the heck he was doing with Lidio's tape measure laying all over my engine and then running to his car that had the hood open. I can only guess.

I would have guessed Marauder untill I saw the new style 03/04 cobra heads. Looks like a sweet deal.
