I'm sure there are only a handful of guys here who might benefit from one of these, but there is a new heavy duty rear IRS Diff cover on the market for our cars from Atomic Performance. If you have some deep gears and a large stall, it might not be a bad idea to get. I think I'll get one for my Thunderbird. Any thoughts?

In addition to being stronger, it also increases the fluid capacity to keep things cooler.

There is a GP going on over at SCCoA to save a few bucks, as it is kind of pricey at $249. Here is the info:

Anyway, just thought I would pass this along here. I had never heard of this product being offered before last night. It's kind of exciting to see a brand new part made specifically for our cars being offered!

nice and beefy looking!! i'm suprised one hasnt been offered in the past, its not like these rear irs's are new units, they have been around for 15 years! looks worth the money.

I considered it, it looks beefy and all, but I have not heard of enough ring and pinion failures attribited to the lack of a strong girdle. IMHO I decided to spend the $ on other rear suspension components. I did purchase the SCP version.

Looks purdy :) If the day ever comes to where I crack the cover I have on the car now with the SCP brace on there, I will get one of these covers.

I got one of these as it was only $30 more the the brace when I got it, and it has the added benefit of the drain and fill plugs, girdle and is a sweet looking piece. :D
To bad it's hidden so far up in the rearend...
They are a nice beefy piece though, alot heavier than the stock one. Good upgrade if you do steep gears like I did with the 4.30's, and don't want the brace to make it so hard to change the fluids. Also, the braces doesn't seem to prevent the cover from cracking from what I've read/seen on the 'stang forums, just prevent it from coming apart and destroying the whole rear...
