Some friends of mine went to the show (I couldn't make it) and found this Lincoln Mark 9 (IX?) hiding away in the corner for me (since they know I am working on my Mark 8).

Given a lot of Detroit cars at this show are concept vehicles, thought I'd let you guys know. ;) Other pics are located here at a brief page he setup. He took 274 pics, only has like 20 online right now. It will get bigger...

It's a dud... it's a reskinned thunderchicken, and they couldn't sell the thunderchicken, so....

I hope to get around to putting my pics up tonight.

Hahaha. Well, actually with so many things similar between the 96+ T-birds and our mark 8s (tranny, irs, brakes, modular engine but SOHC I know, etc), you can say that is already so. ;) I'll admit, it's a bigger difference then the Ford SOHC GT and Ford DOHC Cobra (the body), but got to admit the under-garmets are similar. Doh!

What is horrible about the Thunderbird ? To listen to some of you it's the worst Ford product in decades. I think it's a nice car. Sorta a country club car. Wrap up that 6.0 Litre Audi A8L and I'll take it with me. No need to wrap it up. :)

They sold plenty of the 89-97 thunderturds, it was the new one that i'm talking about. I have 4-5 friends with 6-7 thunderbirds/cougars between them. I don't know anyone who owns or wants to own one of the new, extra-flexy, underpowered, nearly useless image vehicles that have adopted the thunderbird name. This concept is THAT thunderbird.

I love the MN12 thunderbirds, as well as the marks. That is a pretty good design and they sold plenty of them. I think part of the key with a vehicle like this is a back seat. People will buy a stylish car and sacrifice a little bit of usefulness for it, but if you can't bring home the groceries in it OR win any races, it's probably not going to sell very well.

I love the back seats in our Mark 8s. I can't believe how much leg room it's got!
