New Mark viii owner question

I just picked up today my new garnet red 94 mark. The car is in very good condition with only 64,000 miles. I have seen posts on the rear window weatherstriping wrinkling up and how to repair, on my car now the weatherstriping is perfect on three sides, but on the drivers side the weatherstriping is just starting to wrinkle. My question is there anything to stop the progression of wrinkling on the drivers side and to save the other three sides. Thanx in advance, Mark..

RE: New Mark viii owner question

I had my 96LSC for two years and now my 98 Mark for two years. Both had the "lasagna effect" going on the rear seals. I prevented mine from getting worse by just keeping vinyl protectant on it -- all the time. Never saw any progression.

RE: New Mark viii owner question

My 94 sufford from the "lasagna" effect worse than any other mark VIII I have seen...and I have seen alot of them.

There was no "getting worse"...it was "worse".

One other system that works is to simply fold the seal underneath itself so the edge tucks into the window channel. not only does this look fine, but it protects the seal from any more wrinkling by holding it flat, and protecting it from the elements.

Once every few months, unfold it, smear some protectant on it, and re-tuck it.

I ended up tucking the sides, and cutting the top off completely....yea, it WAS that bad.

RE: New Mark viii owner question

I must be one of the lucky ones, my car came from South Florida and it has no sign of the lasagna effect as of yet. I hope it stays that way.

RE: New Mark viii owner question

The tuck method works very well...and it looks good too. It's amazing how such a quick and simple solution works so good. :)
