This is a great site – I’m glad to have found it. There are some beautiful cars here.

I’ve had a 96 LSC as a daily driver for 9 years. It is still going strong with 170K miles.

I just bought a 98 base model with 70K. (from eBay) I am assuming the car sat for a few years given the low mileage. The car spent its life in Florida. When the car was delivered to me the first thing I found is that air-ride was converted to the Suncore spring setup. I’m not liking that setup.

So far I have changed all of the fluids, put in a new battery, and some Cobra R’s from SCP with 245/45’s.

Although I have some experience from my 96 LSC and 2 Thunderbird Super Coupes I have a lot of questions concerning my new 98. I sure hope you guys can point me in the right direction.

Suspension: I put Eibach 1.5” lowering springs and Koni adjustables on my Super Coupes – can I do the same with the Mark VIII? I really like that setup on the Thunderbird. Else, I want to reinstall the OEM bags. Can they be purchased new anywhere?

Brakes: During braking the cars pulls very hard to the left. (more so at higher speeds) I replaced the front pads only and the same symptoms occur. I was thinking that the front right caliper is not working correctly from sitting so long. Any clues what is causing this?

Check Traction Control : After I make a right turn I will receive a Check Traction Control warning on the message center. I checked the front sensor cables and didn’t find any cracks or breaks. Could I have a bad sensor(s)?

Air Conditioning: I can tell the compressor has been replaced –it’s not OEM. When I got the car the compressor would not engage so I added 1 can of 134 and it worked great for about a week. Now, the system is still fully charged, I can here a relay click (near the firewall) the compressor will run for a fraction of a second then shut off. Any idea of what I should look for?
Keys: My car came with only one key. What is the procedure to obtaining cutting and programming a spare key(s)?

Leaks: Looks like the rear main is leaking oil. I’ll bet that is a treat to fix. I’m also loosing tranny fluid that looks like the dip stick tube. I am not a fan of using additives, but if someone can suggest something that works I’ll try it. My 96 has almost 170k miles and has never leaked one drop.

Parts: I want to replace the door/body moldings with the LSC style (non-chrome strip) I don’t mind painting them to match, but where can I buy a set?

Also, I want to replace the ‘lens’ portion on the message center controls. Not sure what it is called but it covers the Check Engine, Brake, O/D, etc lights. Where can I get on of those?
