New mod plans for spring?

Any of you guys got any new mods planned for the new spring racing season? I'm hoping to get my trac-loc/4.30 gear pumpkin out of my 95 LSC and putting it into my 98 LSC and also doing some more exhaust work.

Hubby's been talking about finally getting my gears in. Actually, you know, I'd like to be able to make a pass or two at the track before he does it so I have a baseline, since I think it's been 2 years since I've raced.

The weather and work have been holding me up.

  1. Have exhaust header leak fixed.
  2. New stall converter(3800 rpm)
  3. New exhaust with electric cutouts.

There's quite a few other things as well, mostly suspension wise, but I'll be happy if I get those big 3 done before racing season starts or at least before WFC.

I almost forgot, I hope to have a dynotune at the end of March.

I sure wish there was a track closer to me. I would love to see what the Lincoln could do. I've looked online, all I seam to be able to find are "name brand tracks" far away, but I wonder are there some kind of local "underground" tracks around and how do you find them, Legally

Headers, exaust and gears are next on my list.

Around here, they have what is known as "Flashlight Drags". They are held at local airports where they use the runway as the dragstrip. Usually they are 1/8th mile track setups. They're scheduled typically on a once a month basis in the summer and tend to not be well advertised.

They just added a local airport to their venue here, only 20 miles from where I live and it will be held 3 times this summer. They are limited to street legal cars only but some people with connections may have their project car out for some runs.

They can be crowded at times but you will get plenty of runs in as the typical track breakdowns are rare. Timeslips sometimes are iffy depending on the organizers. But the true blast of it all is the gritty competitive atmosphere along with the friendly hometown brand sideline spectators. The great equalizer at these events is typically no track prep. What that means is high HP does not always win the heads up race. Many times the race is done by the sixty foot mark. You can have all the car in the world, but if you can't drive it off the line without breaking traction, you're toast. In the eigth mile venue there is not enough track to make up for your mistakes at the tree. I can't tell you how sastifying it is to watch the other guy play 'chase the Lincoln'. :D
