New Tires Tomorrow!

Yep, I like using all season tires. They work for me.

The Potenza RE960AS Pole Position with UNI-T AQ II Technology is the Ultra High Performance All-Season member of Bridgestone’s Potenza family

Thanks, I need new rubber too before it starts to snow here. The only thing is I have the continental extreme contact tires, last year something on the road took a chunk out of one of them so I replaced it with a new one. So I have three worn tires and one good one. Not sure if I want to replace the 3 with the same or go with something new and replace all 4.

I don't think you'll regret this decision. I love the Bridgestone 930s on my crown Vic... so far 55,000 miles and at least 40% thread is still left.

The Z rated RE730 on my Mark Lasted for 50,000 miles. The only thing is you'll have to balance them every so often...

Can you just save the good one as a full size spare?

That is posible, i have 2 snowflake rims in my garage that i was going to use for DR a long time ago. However, in tthe 10 years+ i have had it that was my frist flat and blow out. I will look up prices and see what getting the 3 i have now and the 4 is.

Yes, but do you guys get snow there, I need to drive in the snow at times. I have never gotten stuck with all seasons yet, but just want to make sure they work in the snow.

This will be my 4th set of tires, so on avg i have been getting about 42k miles a set.

You need at least 50% thread for snow tires anyways otherwise might as well not care what brand they are because it won't matter.

I go to the snow every year (at least 5 weekend) so I know ;) it is only 140 miles from my house.

I took my crown vic up there and my mark... the RE730 (summers) were a NIGHTmare (even with chains)... the RE930s were ok. I am currently only going up in a 4x4 though haha.

Hey I have a question which is IMO pretty dumb. My chrome valve stems - are they true stems or do they just slip on over the rubber stems?

Snow????????????????????

It's frozen white fluffy water. In Texas I believe you call it hail. A bit harder but the same concept.LOL

We bought my wifes 2000 Concorde in Amarillo for $2000.00. Lots of hail damage to the body looks like it was parked next to a softball field, but it runs great.

Shut up Scott! :p

Hail damage is a PITA - I had that. Went to paintless dent removal and got great results.

Well, after me asking why they were charging me for rubber valve stems and making it clear I wanted chrome earlier, I got there and yep, there were rubber valve stems on it. (and please note: in addition to all this the guy who took my order initially had a comment on there stating that this was "my baby.")

I refused to pay or take the car home til they fix it. They said they should have the chrome stems tomorrow. THat's why I asked before, they were talking about a sleeve that goes on the stem that's chrome, but apparently they cut them all off and can't reuse them or something? Probably a good thing my rims aren't directional, lol.

Whatever, I think it's supposed to snow here tomorrow. Hopefully I'll know then!

She could care less about the dents. At the time it was a $10,000 car in good shape.

Not dumb. I never thought about it but I think thats all they are.

Oh hail, now I can understand.:big-grin:

Well, I think I love them. So hard to tell right now. First off, I'll never go back to that Firestone shop: they never called me this AM to tell me they got the chrome sleeves, the sleeves slip around and look rather cheesy if you ask me, not like how they used to be (he says they'll settle in or some crap), and they left the paper on the tires, causing a slip and a lot of noise. However, I ran the car quite a bit, and I love the traction. No snow yet, but maybe I'll try later, although I hate weekend traffic.
