Hello all,

As you can see I am new to the group and so looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship. Been a gear head all my life with many different cars. Fell in love with the Marks back as a kid when my uncle had a new 77 Mark?
Been in the market now for about two months looking and researching on the first and second gen Mark VIII. Had visions of doing one with a 5.0 until I found that they only had the 4.6 new vision now after research on the 4.6.
I have 5 LSC cars that I am looking at ranging in milage from 70k to 200k and $900 to $3500. Wish I could buy them all.

Is the phone in the 98 a rare option, and what years did it come in? I have so many questions but I will feed them slowly and wait for most until I have a car in my driveway.

Welcome, i don't know how rare the phone is but it was offered with the start of the mark viii in 1993
 
Welcome! We're pleased to have you join us! The phones were available in all years for Mark VIII's, however they are analog phones and they no longer work.
 
Did not figure it would work based on that we are now digital in the cell world.
I have three cars I am looking at presently a blk on blk 97 LSC with 70K miles has sbeen side swiped across the left front corner not an impact needs bumber cover headlight and fender very saveable car. The next is a blk on blk 98 LSC 120K miles seems real clean at this point and finally another blk on blk LSC 98 140K miles. Even though I am in Canada I am posting in miles and not kilometers. The prices vary and in order 1500, 2300 and 3500.

Decisions decisions!!! Anyone care to have input and help me decide. Wife will not let me buy three at once but I am going to get a parts car for myself and others. I have a 97 lined up with a slipping tranny for 750.00.
 
Drive down to Florida and pick up the '98 tranny from Jaime for $50.00. Enjoy Florida and get a deal! For $800.00 you'll have a great Mark VIII
 
If you are going for a parts car just an FYI, the black interior is different on the 98 then the 97.

Yes, the 97 black and 98 black like Steve said are different. Plus, the 98 tranny is better than the 97 (I think, right? or have I gone senile again?) Good luck picking the right car for you and see you in Carlisle '10!
 
Welcome to LOD!!! :D Light work is ok to an extent. Just don't get one that ends up being a sitting project. It's not worth it.

There were 3900 phones installed in 1998. Half of those were removed by now. LOL
