Motor Trend magazine's May,2003 issue, page 36:

[font size=2]Lincoln's next-gen will grow in size to make space for a smaller entry-level car, possibly front-drive-based.

Good Lord, I hope that doesn't come to pass (the part about the entry-level FWD Lincoln). What, is it going to be based on the Focus?

Hmmmm, now that is a good thought, as long as Lincoln sticks with the all-wheel drive setup. And that Jag starts at around $30k base price (although with options it goes up very quickly), so I bet Lincoln could do that too (maybe cheaper). AND you can get the X-Type with a 5-speed. Sounding better all the time...

No V8 unfortunately, but I guess "entry level" can't have it all.
