Nitrous dyno tune done

I have to hand it to the guy at Performance Dyno in Concord, NH, he went above and beyond the call of duty tuning my car. It goes without saying he'd never tried tuning a Lincoln Mark VIII before and even though SCT had a base program for the car to start with, it was full of mistakes and required a lot of trouble shooting and multiple visits.

Let me start by reporting the results.
N/A it put down 240hp/244ft-lbs to the wheels.
With the 125hp dry shot it was 333hp/372ft-lbs.
It's definately an improvement I'm happy with. Can't wait to get it to the track.

I bought a 4 position SCT switch chip to have a different program for each level of nitrous from 75-100-125 and it became obvious it was needed, especially with the 125 shot, which required a hefty bump in fuel. By adjusting the air/fuel mixture with the chip I never have to worry about changing the fuel pressure for any level of nitrous or without.

If you're thinking about adding nitrous it's definately worth investing in a new chip and dyno tune so there are no surprises when you hit that switch the first time.

That's some pretty impressive numbers.

What were your baseline HP/Torque numbers?

RE: Nitrous dyno tune done

With the old chip and all the current mods I think they were like 230hp/232ft-lbs. All those numbers tell you is peak output though. The beauty of having the charts of dyno runs is it showed, for example, a spot over 5300rpm where the computer tried to dump in a ton of fuel for some reason and wrecked the nice smooth air/fuel curve as well as hurt the power. By the time the guy was done adjusting the tables the air/fuel was perfectly flat all across the band and the torque curve was flat all the way up to redline instead of dropping off.

Not too bad of numbers. I think I dynod at 35X and 38X ftlbs with the 125 shot in the red car. I had longtubes though.

Welcome to the juice club !

You are going to need some drag radials before you go to the track.
How much did they charge you for the tune and chip ?

I'm still using the 24lb injectors, though they must be near the limit of their capabilites.

I do have nitto drag radials on the car; however, the guy running the dyno told me next time to go with Mickey Thompson ET streets. He said he's had both on his 500hp Chevy Nova and the Mickey Thompsons hook a lot better and are 98% as good as the regular MT racing slicks, but are legal for the road.

The 4 position chip and all three visits (~ 8 hours) to the shop to tune the car only cost $500. That's with about $350 of it for the cost of the chip itself and the guy must have reburned the it more than 2 dozen times in the course of tuning it as well as the 2 dozen dyno pulls.

I would recommend this guy to anyone in New England who wants a SCT chip. His website is:

That sounds like a deal to me.
