Not trying to be a bore, but...

12.42 @ 109.68 MPH. And that was spinning the tires, so I am sure it has a 12.3 in it.

I also set a new motor only pass time of 14.35 @ 95.10 MPH.

I'll post over at the fastest time thread once I get the slip photo online.

Yes, but YOU are doing that on motor only, and with my ramp I am at nearly an additional 50 horses by the 60' mark. What you are doing is more impressive.

My motor 60' times are between 2.0 and 2.1.

devin are you doing a 150 shot? your mph goes from 95 to 109 that is insane.

No, it's "just" a 100 shot. Part of the difference is in the tune. When I do motor only runs I am doing that as a baseline with a completely factory tune. When I am on the bottle, I have a Reinhart tune that pulls back a bit of timing, but also changes the shift points, firms them up radically, clicks on the fan almost immediately, etc etc etc.

On the bottle I launch at 2500 rpm with an 11 horsepower shot that ramps up to the full 100 over the next 3 seconds and street tires just pretty much won't hold, so I do that on drag radials. I usually do my baseline runs on street tires, which are just a little bit taller and usually cut into my times by about a tenth or so.

I guess what I am saying is that there's a lot more going on that just adding 100 horses. I am benefiting from a cumulative effect of several things. Back before I added the tune, the stall converter, the drag radials, the exhaust cutouts and the progressive system I would run about a 14.7 on motor at 94~95 mph and a 13.7 on a 100 shot at about 100~101 mph.

I will say that the times that I have been getting are a *hell* of a lot faster than I ever expected.

Also J: Didn't you have 4.10s in your car? I run with 3.73s.

Incidentally, on the off chance that anybody thinks that I am just full of BS, Junkman frequents the same track I run at, so he can independently verify everything I am telling you. (That sounds a little paranoid, not meant to be).

Yea Jesse was running Fo'tens haha.

I was just curious because your results speak to almost a 175 shot... but you're "only" running a 100 shot which means that whatever it is you're doing (which is what you described above) works really well. Congrats.

Others wanting to spray should really use your posts as guidelines.

I put the "just" in quotes like that because to me a 100 shot is pretty extreme, really. I ran for a full year on a 75 shot because I wasn't convinced that I had everything in line for the 100. I am really pretty conservative when it comes to how I do things.

I intend soon to back it down to a 75, and then try to nudge the car back into 12.5 territory using just that. The less juice I am shooting the more satisfying the accomplishment is in my eyes, and the safer it is to boot.

Oh yah, I also want to say that in my opinion the Mark VIII motor can't handle a 175 shot, at least not in any reliable way. That comes back to the old "I can get a good time once..." mentality. Personally I like driving my car home, so you'll never see anything that extreme from me.

And I can't go to 150, I gave my jets away to Tony (brud_1 on my site) who is running an 11.8x Mach 1. Those were the biggest jets that came with my kit. (35, 50, 75, 100 and 150 in the Nitrous Express 20922 kit).

There were a few members that ran 125-150 shots... many just didn't have the balls. But I am pretty sure that those who did run the 150 ended up with engine failures... so really I don't blame ya for taking the conservative approach. Your results are better than those that ran the 150s... if memory served me right.

I think you can safely say that I don't have the balls. :) Like I said, I really enjoy driving my car home. One great run is not worth killing the motor over.

He speaketh the truth. It's crazy. Devin ran 13.20's forever, got a wild hair one night to spread the nitrous out over a 3 second period and ta da! THe car runs 12.4x's. :D And you should see the reaction from people that see it run.

Also J: Didn't you have 4.10s in your car? I run with 3.73s.

Yeah I had 4.10's but I was just pointing out that I was in the 1.8 club too. :D

Mechanically speaking, I don't think 4.10's vs. 100 shot of nitrous should be compared when getting down in the 60 foot times because if gears were that good, everyone would be throwing 4.10's in rather than 3.73's. That is unless you're not hitting the NOS untill after the 60 foot mark, and if thats the case, then a 1.8 60 foot with your setup is great. :D

12.38 @ 109.5. I'll post it up as an official time when I get the slip online.

I'll be running it again tonight at the Midnight Drags, but I doubt that I'll set any new records since I'll not have the DRs on it.

Every time you go to race track you run faster and faster.Congrats on the new time and post faster times again in few weeks.
