Anyone have a spare O/D switch? Or know where to get one?
I was removing the console assembly on my '93 today according to the instructions in the manual. I was doing this to replace the cupholder/ashtray assembly which attaches to the underside of the console. The manual explained to remove the shifter knob, the trim, etc... and all was going according to plan 'til reassembly.
I was trying to replace the O/D button in the shifter knob when I lost the small metallic tip of the switch. It is about a 1/4" diameter small disc which is what makes electrical contact between point contacts inside the shifter knob. I scoured everywhere, even removing the shifter and trim again, thinking it had somehow fallen out and down into the shifter area.
What really ticked me off is that contrary to the manual's instructions, it is not necessary to remove the shifter knob to remove the shifter trim or console assembly. And to add insult to injury, it is not even necessary to remove the O/D button to remove the shifter knob!
