O2 sensors

Is there an easy way to get to the O2 sensors? I tried to change them myself but I could not reach the front ones so I took the car to a shop that quoted me $150 to change them. I stayed while they replaced them and it took them nearly eight hours to do the job. I cannot believe it is that hard to get to the front sensors, did Ford just want you to buy a new car when they failed? The O2 sensors certainly needed changing. My car had 245,000 Kms on the original units. After the sensor change and a MAF clean my engine is as smooth as an electric motor. Now to the track and see if my car can do better than a 16 seconds flat in the quarter.
