Oil Filter Adapter Gasket

So, it was time for an oil change today, and I had noticed a bit of oil in my coolant tank. Knowing that my Mark had the original oil filter adapter gasket, I picked up a new one and figured that I'd add it to the adventures of changing the oil.

I must say after finishing that, I'd rather replace my EGR tube, or my tailshaft bushing again!

It was nearly impossible getting the new gasket aligned and together with the block and that adapter, i'm not even sure how I did it.

Then my 2 year old coolant crossover tube plug stripped out, so a trip to my local LMF dealer and $35.00 later I'll have a new one on wed.

But, she now has new coolant, fresh new oil (Amsoil Ow30), and a new gasket. The old gasket surfaces were almost completely flat on both sides, while the new one was obviously not compressed and the O-rings filled out nicely. I hope this solves my problem, I wasn't experiencing any type of external oil or coolant leak.

Anyway, hope you all found this day to be productive also!

Just think of all that personal satisfaction you gained from fixing it yourself! :)

Good job!

I think I'd rather do the gasket than the EGR tube though. I've done two gaskets and one tube.

The tube can be a real pain if rust is a problem.

The gasket is just a pain all the time.:D

Well, my Mark has spent it's life in Ca - so rust is not an issue. With the EGR tube, it was difficult yes, but manageable. The most frustrating thing about this stupid gasket was that I could only fit one hand in there.

My wife has a picture of my laying on the motor with both hands between the motor and the firewall, doing the EGR.....

I do love the personal satisfaction of fixing/repairing all my vehicles....
