Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

Im torn between Pro Charger P1-SC and intercooler or the new Ken Bell spool setup i see on the new mustangs. (like in the shootout in latest issue of Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine?) there pulling about 400 HP each outta my same engine?
I want to see your opinions on each. One of the two will be purchased for the 2001 SVT motor in my Mark 8. I'm not worried about another dyno tune as i need another one now with all add ons. But heres the skinny on what the car is setup with.

SCT dyno tune in Mobile AL from JMS.
FMS4:10s with stud kit
Eaton posi
Dual exhaust with crossover into dual magnaflows
ART Longtube headers
Metal matrix driveshaft
Stock internals in 2001 SVT cobra motor except for the canton windage tray.
SCT 90MM MAF for the lightning.
K&N conical air filter with a custom fiberglass air intake tube to fit throttle body.

What's the benefit of having a bracket held supercharger setup compared to the black dual spool setup from ken bell? Which has better bang for buck? HP? And faster pickup? I think the Ken Bell setup I'm leaning to because its all neat and packed on top of engine. (Not worried about clearance issues as i will be running the SVT cobra hood soon.) As opposed to having to cut and move the radiator for room for the intercooler for the Pro Charger setup?

Torn between the two and i do drag racing every weekend, and drive the car to work every day with highway miles if the lady has my truck.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

dragstrip = p1sc or vortech.
street = kenne bell.

I'd still get a KB setup, especially since now they have them with intercoolers. It won't be cheap, but it does make the car gobs of fun. 14psi of idle makes it worth it.

With stock internals I wouldn't be going over 400rwhp anyway, and both procharger and vortech will get there easily.

You don't need to cut anything to fit either procharger or vortech in there. I'll have more info on this soon ...

listen to jermi he seems to know his sh@t. i personally have had good success with the ati systems but i never put one on a mark 8 so like i said id go with what jeremi suggests

Local guy is putting a Procharger on his car in a few weeks, so I'll let you know how that goes when he's done. Now that Whipple has a kit available, I'd be looking more twards one of those. I know of at least one local car that has one and is very happy with it.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

Everyone differs in their opinion. I like centrifugals. More power can be made with them and they are cheap, easy to intercool, ect. I jsut installed another S trim on a Mark VIII yesterday. I think it is the last supercharger I will ever install. I am a turbo guy all the way.

Sweet. Post pics! I still got 5 more months in this godforsaken sandbox. I'll be looking for them, whatever youre up to... ;-) But i really cant see how an intercooler will fit without mods when i had the front bumperskin and styrofoam off a long time ago when i got it painted all blue.

How do you intend to fit the Kenny Bell under the hood? Uless something has changed with their new styles you wont have anywhere near enough space to fit it under the stock hood.

If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

you can buy a stock 03 cobra blower with intake and bolt it right on. this will be the cheapest... the kb setup is a lot of money and is bigger under the hood. the eaton may clear a lot better then the kb setup.

Heads are different. Will it fit?

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

will not work heads are different. Dan is loosing his mind.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

He's using the c-style heads in his 01 motor.

It will fit, but the amount of money you have to spend on all the brackets, pulleys, etc makes it not worth it.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

Im not worried about the hood, im getting one done for me in fiberglass. Basicly its the cobra R hoods you see on the mustangs with two rounded edges going up the middle of hood. I'll get the charger mounted and what ever doesnt fit, well cut outta the way and make it pretty...
What i had as an idea was to put it all in there and just cut out what comes up through the hood, then do a smooth countored bubble just enough to clear closing hood on it and room for vibrations. It would look like somone slammed a clay hood on top of an engine too big for the car. just the rounded components on top would create the dent we would use for the bubble, then glass it and paint it.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

hmmm just was checking out the prices. the KB is running around 5,550? and i just was looking at the Ford Motorsports RACING blowers also. There ALOT cheaper at 3,700 abouts.
Question here is, do both kits come with the brackets and belts. I saw there extra for the 2.2 kit i want from KB? the Blowzilla.
Wonderng if its the same with the FMS unit and why so lower in price compared to the KB unit? I know you get what you pay for applies, but how much more to make it worth it? Is one just way better than the other one? or made with high quality materials that will last longer?

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

I thought the blower from Ford os for the 2V only. Kenne Bell makes 3 kits for the 99+ cobra: 1.7L non-intercooled, 1.7L intercooled, and 2.2L intercooled. You should get forged internals if you get the 2.2L

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

I think I will be going with 10psi at max. I'm pretty sure the stock Cobra motor can handle it. Theres a ton of mustang's around here doing same with no problems on regular 2 valvers, running 100 shots of giggle gas. All my internals are stock with what came with the cobra, except a scooped out Mark VIII oilpan and a Canton windage tray. Pretty sure it will be the twin screw KB unit now.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

Assuming money is no object, I'd go with the intercooled KB Blowzilla unit.. something about ~12 PSI right off of idle is addictive.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

the ford racing blower up grade for the 03 cobra is a whipple blower kit. as long as you have all the 03 cobra brackets it should work ok. you can get one for about 3400 if you look around.

RE: Opinions needed on superchargers setups. Which is better?

Yes, i saw the FORD racing upgrade one on website for like 3400.00 But how is that compared to the KB unit? Im assuming his will be more like 5 or 6 grand complete? There very vauge on the FMS site as to the size and limitations, so i can't really compare it to the Ken B unit. (other than talking to someone who installs them for a living and knows what there talking about and where each one has its streangths and affordability)I'm only doing this once, and want to do it right the first time.
Although I know I will have to change over to the 10 rib pulleys and brackets to run the KB unit? Or do they come with is kit?
Again this is going to be mounted on a 2001 Cobra SVT motor if it makes any differance. I already have the extra sensor bung welded into the "mustang crossover tube" so i could use the mustang alternator holdown clamp. (there different slightly from the marks setup.) Other wise its externally the same. Not sure if i have to run the 10 rib pulleys and belts, or can i use the stockers till it slips?
