I read [link:www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.11/opensource.html|an article in Wired] a few days ago about open source and it got me wondering what people actually thought about it.
I just downloaded Open Office, the open source answer to MS OFFICE, have been using CDex for a while, and have become fond of Linux lately as well. After reading the article, I was convinced that OS was here to stay AND make a statement. I'm still not sure exactly what that statement is, but I think the future of OS looks promising. You even have companies like Sun Microsystems invloved with some of these projects.
Are we going to see more companies support OS design and development in the future? Will OS apps become accepted and supported the same way products like MS Windows is supported? There are over 70,000 projects at sourceforge.net!!!
Where is it going to go? Revolutionary....or no???
