Pathetic radiators?

Anyone ever looked at how wimpy our radiators are? Ive got Everything out of engine bay now. I've never really looked at radiator closely (being buried behind all that plastic and fan). It's a baby little thing being one core when im used to seeing my 4 core radiator for the GM crowd. I've never ever had any under cooling issues with the lil thing, but i took it out to get it and my tranny cooler flushed being paranoid that some metal flakes got into the coolant from my timing chain going south. Old blue is looking naked in the engine bay. theres actually quite a bit of room once you get all the acessories outta there. Even took some "measurements" for brackets for the intercooler down the road once i get the bank account back to normal. is upgrading to a bigger radiator for a mustang engine being a little overkill? or is this a worthwhile task? Im wondering if the mustang cobras come with a dinky little one core radiator..pretty sad considering the RPMS they see daily.

RE: Pathetic radiators?

Never seen many over heating problems around here. Never had a problem living in Florida with that thing.

RE: Pathetic radiators?

id rather spend the 600.00 on a bottle setup. Just had mine cleaned today..still tip top shape.

RE: Pathetic radiators?

Not quite. The radiater itself is about 190 or ao and a few bucks to modify it.Your looking under 235 complete. And its huge!

RE: Pathetic radiators?

Now that sounds more like it. Not much more than stock price new. And bigger to boot.

RE: Pathetic radiators?

Ok then someone needs to hook me up with a number or website because everywhere I look I see em for like 400 - 500$. If I knew they were that cheap, I would have already had one !. Bah. I need to search more. But yet again Chris and Geno you guys both get deals, while I have to buy em at standard price. Hook ME UP!

RE: Pathetic radiators?

no deal here jon. You can get them at summit. Just a standard ford radiator. YOu have to measure it to make sure it is the right width, but it will be shorter. You will have to have someone weld on it to make brackets to mount the fan on it and to mount it to the car. It is the dual 1" core radiator. You will have to put a stand alone tranny cooler on it though.

RE: Pathetic radiators?

Is there anything you do not know Joe?. LOL. Thanks again for the info. I believe it might be time for a new radiator. We'll see maybe over the summer. I'll definently get it before I move to Florida tho.
Yes< I may have a new home out in the Delray Beach area, so I can start talking with some of you guys from Florida a bit more now. I Might be moving, but my mom sounds pretty sure of it sometime next year, which is prolly around mid summer.

RE: Pathetic radiators?

You can put in a Cobra radiator, but you will need to relocate the battery. Not really worth the effort IMO. The stock radiator is more than enough if kept debris free in the front. Never had an issue with it personally, it was just filthy which takes away it's ability to cool.
