Performance Suspension

What specifically can be done on the Mark VIII platform to optimize the entire suspension for drag racing? I'm not interested in AutoCross setups, simply starting line launches. }(

RE: Performance Suspension

drag radials, and play with the suspension height.

I don't have any problem launching with drag radials, a 3200 stall, and 4.10's. Unless the track sucks. On the street it just goes. Even if I lower it, it still hooks up. Sometimes if i get it too low, i'll get some wheelspin, but i can go a couple inches lower than stock and still hook up like crazy. And the lower height helps mph on the other end of the track.

RE: Performance Suspension

I'm wondering about things like bushings, sway bars, engine/tranny mounts, subframe connectors and the like.

I usually run my '93 at the track in the 'parked height' with the air suspension turned off. Truthfully Ive never checked it to see if it made any difference, it only made sense to run it 'lowered' and it certainly makes no sense to have the suspension computer lowering/raising the car each run due to the vehicle speed.

I only wondered what could be done with the suspension setup since I read so much about body/suspension setups on other drag cars. Of course we're not talking about a 9 second demon here, but I'm thinking maybe certain things can be applied for a tenth a second or so better ET in the 1/4 mile. I know the 1/8th mile track I ran at last year has horrible traction even with the DRs. So I'm thinking it may be even more advantageous there in conditions like poor traction. There's times I get a good bit of wheel hop.

RE: Performance Suspension

MN12 has available polygraphite bushing for the rear pumpkin and the rear control arms that are supposed to be good for helping 60 ft times. Geno also sells them.
