looks like a 2 door grand marquis with a cougar grill. I would have never purchased one if it looked like that. Very unoriginal.

yea that model in the center looks like crap. If they made the mark like that. I'm sure this fourum wouldn't be here today.

I find it interesting that the prototype was built ,on the artist drawing at the bottom right..That means the top drawings were rejected for the bottom one, probably because they were to radical.
However if you study the top drawings those pics are almost exactly what was produced in the production car....I wonder what that story was...

I remember watching a show about T-Birds a while age, (there are a couple of them), and in one scene, they were interviewing one of the designers from the MN-12 era. On the wall behind him there was a big, (3'x5'?), painting of a slightly stylized Mark VIII. I wrote his name down somewhere, thinking he might have been involved in the Mark VIII, but I couldn't find it right now... I've entertained the thought of trying to get in touch with him to see if there's anything that could be done about getting a decent Ford/Lincoln 4 seat 2 door coupe back again. FMC has really left this whole demographic in the lurch, while BMW and Mercedes continually proves there's a market for these cars.

The size and general proportions seem about the same on the model. Luckily they went with the meaner final look of the top sketches. They added the contoured side panels, took the chrome on the front to the top of the headlights, widened the grill, and downplayed the chrome strip around the sides. And obviously decided on a good looking tail light scheme.

Anyone notice how the roof-line of the center pic resembles our trunk hump? Now there's something for all of you photo-shop, choppers!
p.s. Johnaec, if you think you can talk anyone at Lincoln/FMC to bring back a real LSC platform, I'll vote for you at the NEXT recall election. If anyone is going to do it, it'll be Mercury, not Lincoln. The Marauder 2-door, aka wanna-be Mark IX. (Mark-ury, there's one for all you customizers out there)

Jason, was that the original pic size? If not, I would really appreciate it if you could email a copy. That is just too cool. It would go well with my Mark VIII collection of trivia.
