Power Flush?

Well I know we have presented the facts straight so you also missed the TSB on the use of Mercon V as the new power steering fluid as well.

Here are the TSB numbers that you appear to be mistaken about.

06-14-4 July 06 Mercon V ATF
07-1-7 Jan 07 Mercon V Power Steering

Personally all I wanted to do is pass on to those folks who were reading this thread what FOMOCO and the collective resources here knew. If you want to use Pine Tar instead, that is your choice, even if it is a bad one.

i am not mistaken about the tsb's you cite. i am fully aware that fmc reccomends the use of v in both tranny's and power steering units. furthermore i did not address those tsb but rather expressed my preference for mercon changed at proper intervals.

what i did say was that i had red tsb that address proper handling of v by service techs and that it was corrosive on seals but seals were being reformulated to accommodate the fluid. nothing more nothing less.

I know this has nothing to do with the ongoing discussion regarding the corrosive properties (or not) of Mercon V, but on an earlier conversation thread, I did have a MLPS give out in less than a year, so it is possible for a brand new unit to fail.

It was giving all kinds of faulty readings, constantly bouncing over to R and then N and D and 2, etc. Often it would stick with a given setting for just a microsecond, but it was more than enough to cause the transmission to act VERY odd.

that reminds me that i need to adjust my linkage. i did not get it quite rite after the r&r.
i should not let it go much longer. thanks
