95 Lincoln mark 8, my drivers window motor is starting to act up. sounds like and acts like the gear may be stripped? when i hit the switch for up or down it sounds like a gear is skipping? the window jumps up and down slightly. when i moive it with my hand it works fine. any feed back before pulling the panel would be great. thanks:)

The window motors in my '86 will occasionally do the same thing. they're rebuildable. there are three nylon cylinders within the motor mechanism that will crush to bits over time. Historically, I've just brought whichever of the three is in the best shape into a hardware store, and looked through the bins of miscellaneous bits until I find a good substitute. (generally some kind of bushing)

I just surmised that the Mark VIII motors were built similarly, and based on this thread:

it appears that they are.

I'd advise digging in to see what you find. Just use caution in removing the door panel if this is your first time. they don't use the "mushroom" pins like the panels of old. Instead there are "hooks" molded into the panel. Once you remove the screws, you simply lift up, and toward you.

easy-breezy.

No problem at all. Let us know how it goes! :)

..And welcome to the board!

They sell those plastic cylinders in the Help section of many auto parts stores, about 10 bucks.:)

The motors are very easy to remove, and replace the cylinders.:)
