Quickest Lincolns of Distinction - DISCUSSION

Interesting observation.

No kidding. On my '93 I had a K&N cold air kit w/ the stock MAF. I went back to the stock air box, w/ a hole cut in the front; I noticed the car picked up a bit. I'm thinking the problem was the bend in the tube on the K&N set up.

Was that the run where she kicked the DOG CRAP out of the Subaru WRX?

That was a good run, the "crowd went wild!".

Coupled with "the ghost" that Jeff took the stock air box OFF of and put an open element cone filter, took it to the track and the car slowed down .3

There is not a single NA 13 second Mark VIII on our list that uses a panel filter and that should tell you something.

spoke with Mike Gilbert(NightSky) yesterday and he informed me that his NA 93 mark 8 made his 13 second passes with the stock air box and a panel filter.

He used to have a GT MAF and cone filter but went back to the stock set up when he fabbed up his homegrown cold air kit.

Said his car slowed down with the GT MAF and Filter.

I told him to come post his timeslips from yesteryear.

Cool, my statement is still true though until he is added to our list lol... do you still have the stock airbox setup on your 95 Mark VIII? I must say the stock airbox is not so bad with a few modifications to it (K&N panel, holes drilled, silencer removed) but if you look at a Infiniti G35 stock airbox setup, that is a piece of work.

No I have the L M S /C&L meter and cone filter, but.. "not for long".

I'm going back to the stock air box and panel filter and hopefully THEN... my first 13 second pass in grandmas car.

My old air box I used a 2 inch door knob saw and made two large offsetting holes, then I jigsawed the two holes into one big oblong hole.

Glen do you have a stock airbox and a panel K&N?
if so.. we could swap them at the track {like you've been asking} no problem.

I have the stock airbox but no panel K&N filter.
Yesterday,I got a new air filter and new coil pack :p .

Yea with those conditions a good running bone stock 93 Mark VIII should run mid 14's. Still impressive though. JP, if the stock airbox is so great why don't you put yours back on. =P jk...
