Radiator relocation

crash

Registered
Now that I moved the AC line to make the vortech bracket fit, I have to now make room for the inlet pipe. I searched the archives but the pictures don't exist anymore. Based onthe pic below, in order to relocate the radiator down 1-2" and closer to the condenser, do I cut on the blue line and bend up on the green line? Then make some temporary brackets until I can get it welded in place?
Anything else I might be missing?

Ahhh! Did I miss something?

If you cut on the Blue line, the part with the Green line will now not be connected to the car, so why bend it?

How about just install the Cobra Radiator I have for sale and don't cut anything........its about 1 1/2 shorter and you just flip the top radiator brackets upside down and waalaa you're done.......

I guess I didn't realize it was that easy with a cobra radiator. I would imagine it would cost a lot to ship it to MN?

You have to move the a/c condenser first. Remove the top brackets, flatten them, and drill new holes for the mouting bolts from the bottom of the top core support. The install the cobra radiator. You'll have to move the side brackets closer together for it to fit, it's not a direct bolt it.

Cutting the bottom support is the old school way to do it, and totally retarded now that I look at what I did in the past ;).

I just picked up a cobra radiator and fan. Already have the condenser taken care of. It looks like you have to drill new holes in the lower support for the bottom mounting posts on the radiator? What did you do with the top mounting posts on the radiator?

I used the stock bottom locations, but modifed the radiator brackets to "hug" the radiator better. I drilled the new holes in the top and bottom lips, and brought them all closer. By doing this it fit a lot better up top as well.

Also, get yourself a one piece top hose, it's an autozone #101 hose, and it fits perfect, without the need for the junky vortech splice.

Thanks, I'll try that. Already have that hose. I saw that in the archives.

BTW, I'm taking a bunch of pictures and will create a web page for a vortech install.

Sorry to jump in the middle of this,

Sorry to jump in the middle of this,

Mad1stGen...I remember you telling me about the #101 hose and i went to AZ and asked them for it and they like looked at me like i was crazy. haha Is that the "part number" or one of those ribbed ones that flex to your liking around bends and radiuses with a steel spring in it so it wont collapse?
I am to that point now where i need to throw coolant in it and fire it up and still havent found a top hose i like yet.

Any other intell on the #101 hose? Whats it made for?
So maybee i can steer them in the right direction when they dive into the computer. i actually asked them to go back behind the counter and select my own hose, and they let me browse and pick one. I ended up picking up an older model ford F 150 hose with bends closest to my needed setup, but the bends are still not quite right without cutting and modifying it to be longer length underneath.

Crash, maybee if you pick one up, can you post a pic or two of it in this thread im following and for others benifit too? thanks ahead of time.

Here is a picture of that hose. I just bought mine from Autozone.com. It was 8.99 + about 5 bucks shipping.

Onto another matter...as you can see from the pic below, that electrical connection is in the way of the inlet pipe. How did you get around this Mike(mlshultz)?

One other thing, how do you make the electrical connection to this fan? My mark had 2 wires going to the fan. The cobra fan has 3 wires coming out of the connector/

Sweet

Sweet

Thanks Crash...That is exactly what i need with those bends to snake back behind the centifigual. I'm going tommorow after to work to pick one up. Thanks for the pic. I'll prove it exists when they give me that deer in the headlights look. lol

Nope, got that look and hands in the pockt deal again.

.

"If you would please tell us what kind of car you drive mister then we could just look it up on the computer."....WOW!! really? wowwwwww How do i explain that it is about 3 different cars put together and a balanced grenede explosion in harmony in one short quick sentence. haha
Crash, Is there a way you could write down and post the Barcode long number i see on that upc code? Not the 101 number because that of course doesnt work with the brilliance working around here. Ive been there twice in the last two months and went through the hanging backstock myself by hand searching for this elusive creature, to no avail.
I'm going to try to pull it up and order directly from autozone on the website.
