rear end install now slight problem

ok so i got my 3.73's and posi installed about a week ago. problem started actually the day i got it back, not the drive home but the very next ride when i was trying to show someone (of course this happens). so the problem is...there was a sound coming from the back kinda like a bad u-joint but worse. it happens at about 20 to 30 mph... when i let off the gas and coast at those speeds i hear this kind of clunking, its about twice a second, so im thinking it has something to do with the shaft. was the shaft hooked up incorrectly? i also feel a slight vibration now aswell. could doing this mod damage u joints? or is it possible to hook the shaft up wrong? when we did the install we left the c clips or circlips off the halfshafts as i was told to do.
i know this is kinda vague but maybe someone else has had this problem.
im going to take it back to the shop tomorrow but i kinda wanna know what it is before i go there. i havent been driving the car very much since i know there is a problem.
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me

I'm lost on why this is done.

well we did this because the posi came out of a solid axle mustang, i was told here on the forum that the unit didnt have a notch or groove for the clips.... or something like that....

so i was going to take in the car but before i could the noise went away... im thinking it could have possibly been the brakes in the rear. the guy might have switched the sides of the pads, might have been rubbing a little. i dont know as long as the noise is gone thats fine by me.

so now for the 3.73 report..... the upgrade was nice it wakes the car up for sure. climbs gears alot easier now. i got it all done parts and labor for a total of 275ish, i feel it was definetly worth that. i bought used parts and had a friend do the work so i saved big time. not sure tho if it woulda been worth the full price of doing it. i like the highway downshift i get now its very nice. feels like a different car now. only downside is the mileage i lost on highway. it now gets about 22mpg at 80ish and 24 to 25 at 75ish. prior to the gears i got about 4 to 5 more in those areas. overall it was very nice upgrade and for what i paid id do it again.
