rearview/driver mirror - may need replaced

1996 Mark VIII 122,000 miles. My rear view and drivers side mirror has a line across it, the bottom being tinted and the top being clear. Looks like the mirror cracked and then something settled to bottom. What should I look for when replacing and should I use new or used from a salvage yard? thank you for any help. Race.
 
You might try a look through that "auction place". They are listed on there commonly. Or, if you dont want to spend the bucks, you can carefully cut the plastic edge from around the mirror and remove the top glass and clean the mirror behind it. Of course it wont dim any more, but it will still heat.

He's talking about the INSIDE R.V.M. - I think....maybe both.
