My 1994 Mark VIII finally had enough at 180k mles, so I went car shopping in Orlando and found a 1996 bright red one for $5500.00

It's the second '96 I got in 3 months....I gave the first one (only $3500.00!) to my 17 year old daughter, so this ones mine...Although I didn't score as good a deal on mine...it's MINE...Everything works and it is super clean and tight even at 88k miles....figure I can get 100k more miles on it, so i'm happy again...

I'm saving the '94 as a parts station for these two 96's...that'll work.

The dealership was excellent for a secondary dealer....I ASKED if the bags had been holding overnight and the main salesman said..."well no" and they'd send it out for new bags...After I test drove it, we smelled oil.....Hmm....Oil filter adapter plate gasket maybe? So they said that after the bags went in, they'd send it out for a check on that...yup...that was it, so they fixed that too.. Plus I got a 30 day full warranty, so i'll drive the crap out of it to see if anything else pops up, but seems pretty tight to me now. Its nice to know a lot about these cars.
I started working on buying this car 6 days ago, and it's finally a done deal.

First thing I did when I got it home was to put a thick layer of vinyl/leather conditioner on that seal....it's not lasagna yet, but its not new either....the paint is very good...still has consistant clear coat everywhere, including the bumper masks...I hit the whole car with Turtle Wax clear coat restorer wax...it really dug some old color and dirt out of it...it looks awesome right now.....wheels and tires in excellent condition too...there are a couple of scratches and door dings, but I can work on that.....found paperwork the car was from Sarasota FL....well now its in Deland-Daytona Beach.

Sounds like a nice deal! Keeping the other for a parts donor is a wise move as well. Congrats. :D

I just did a car fax and correlated the previous owners address with Citgo stations. I found one right near the owners house. I called the station and they are very familiar with that Mark. Said it filled up there all the time.

CITGO SUCKS!!!!

They just dropped 30k gallons of hi-sulfer crude in the Delaware River today!!

Its all shut down up there now pending damage and clean-up assessments..

What were the chances of that happening today??

CITGO just plain SUCKS!!

US Coast Guard battles oil spill
Authorities near Philadelphia in the United States are battling to contain an oil slick after a Cyprus-flagged tanker on its way to a Citgo refinery spilled 114,000 litres of crude into a nearby river.

Petty Officer John Edwards says the Athos I began leaking late on Friday, as it pumped oil from one tank to another and found that crude had leaked into the ship's ballast water.

"It's in the Delaware River and we're trying to contain it from getting into any of the smaller waterways," he said.

"We've laid out thousands of feet of [absorbent, floating] boom to minimise the impact on the environment."

The Coast Guard is investigating how the oil was released.

Petty Officer Edwards says the Athos I reported that it had bilged oil during the transfer operation and that the ship was listing and had lost power.

The Delaware River flows by Philadelphia and forms the border between Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, an area that is home to many oil refineries, before it empties into the Atlantic Ocean.

Petty Officer Edwards says the Coast Guard is working closely with Pennsylvania and New Jersey environmental authorities as well as with Citgo officials on the clean-up.

The captain of the port has ordered a portion of the Delaware River closed, stranding five ships.

Petty Officer Edwards says New Jersey Governor Richard Codey put the duration of the river closing at two or three days.
