Screeching noise from rear brakes while driving

Anyone know what could be a cause of this?
I have had this problem for at least 5 months but I didn’t really pay attention to it, it is really noticeable at low speeds 10mph or so (not a vert loud but a distinct sound). I’ve read that this could be caused by loose lugnuts… tried that… no help. Is the caliper adjusted wrong? Could the rotor be warped? anyone had a similar problem? The brakes are at about 30%... so I’ll change the pads soon… I just don’t want this noise to continue.

Is one rotor more worn out then the other? Does the car shift to one side? If so, one of the calipers might need adjusting or something. But I think you would have noticed in 5 months if it was sticking. I hear some squeaking here and there sometimes, but after I apply the breaks and release a few times it will go away, cant figure it either. But I’m going to switch to Ceramics all around after I come back from vacation.

sounds exactly what makes mine go away... no shifting whatsoever to either side... quite odd. any favorites (brands) on the pads?

Yup, same problem I have, and till this day, I have not been able to figure it out. I've had great success with Napa Ceramics in the past; they never failed me, great pads, no sound/dust/fading. The Breaks are much better then before. Check www.tirerack.com they have better deals then on some of their premium ceramic pads.

At Napa, they are 75bucs per axle I believe.

Also remember, at NAPA, they give a decent discount if you can produce a AAA card. I think I save $8-->$9 bucks on a set of their NAPA brand ceramic pads. (re-badged Raybestos)

Art, are you sure your not confusing your AAA Card with your AARP Card?;)

Bryan: it took me many years to acquire this wisdom. Don't confuse the readers. If I say AAA, I mean AAA. Now I do have an AARP card also, but they don't honor it at NAPA.
