hi Guys and gals, I've got a 95 t-bird that i want to get rid of the HIGHLY uncomfortable seats. I know that the mark seats are a direct bolt in and that with some wiring can be made to work.

My question is which gen is more comfortable 1st or 2nd... i know either has to be a improvement over the birds

thanks
Lyn

2nd Gen without a doubt.

Nothing wrong with Gen1 seats, but I've always said you sit ON a Gen1 seat and sit IN a Gen2 seat.

Might not be the same but i'll throw the idea out there..

In my marquis when i switched from the factory cloth to tc leather and then marqiusleather seats i just took the oem rails and reclining mechanism and put them on the leather seats..So if your bird is manual you might beable to just switch the tracks and recliner to the mark seats And retain the manual functions if you dont want to mess with wireing..

Again not sure if it works between the marks/birds but it worked for the gm/cv/tc's..

I've had bot Gen's. As already stated, you sit on the Gen1 seats and in the Gen2 seats. At first I thought the Gen2 seats were more comfortable. As time went on I think that the earlier seats were more comfortable, especially on a long drive. The Gen2 seats are definitely softer.

Oh, so that's why the Gen1s are faster because the Gen2 driver is falling asleep at the tree. :D

I've always thought that the slightly larger bolsters which the factory used in the C/E reduces the comfort level of those seats somewhat on a long trip, compared to the typical Gen 2 seat.
With seat adjusted rearward, Gen 1s have less legroom then Gen 2s, drivers who are (over) six ft. tall will notice.
But having taken many highway trips in both, I'd say (on long drives) the Gen 1 seats are my preference, comfort-wise, although I like the style of the Gen 2 seats better, overall.
