seems to be riding rough, and now an air ride light...sigh

I've been driving my Mark to work lately, (as opposed to leaving it sitting in the garage) and was thinking that it seemed to be riding rougher than before. This morning the check air ride light came on. *sigh*

The rear bags are original, as is one rear shock. The shock mounts are fine. It's not settling. Front struts and compressor are new. It is not riding high or low; I've watched myself go by in store windows. When I go out at lunch I'll see what else I find.

While I love driving my car, I'm tiring of problems and am considering purchasing a different car in the near future. I'd like something that performs great but that has room to haul my bike in. I'm looking at the Lexus rs 330, but haven't driven one yet. I don't like SUVs but think that one is very nice looking. It doesn't look like it will be fast though. (Maybe I need to "grow up") I'd also consider a "sport wagon" of some sort as long as it performs and isn't a huge gas hog. (No Chryslers)

Well you just about ruled out the only inexpensive, american sports wagon right there.

My guess would be a shock that froze up. When you replaced the front struts, where did you buy the parts from? If it was arnott, that's probably the problem. If it's frozen up bad enough it will keep the car from raising or lowering and cause a check air ride message. Could be a rear shock too, i suppose.

I bought OEM struts for a 2nd gen. Fronts seem fine and I think it is rough in back--the cd changer is skipping more than it was before.

I may just break down and put the rear bags and shocks on the silly thing....and o2 sensors while I'm throwing money at it... What's another $500.00... *grumble*

I use to enjoy troubleshooting the car, but now just want it to be dependable for a while.

As far as a new car; I'm nut much into American cars... I would consider a Volvo, and since it's owned by Ford I'll get a good deal on them.

A friend has a RS 330. It's underpowered and expensive.
