Shift linkage

96 LSC........... is there a way to lubricate the shift linkage. It works OK but seems a little stiff. [as comapred to a Lexus SC 400]

I had the same problem with my red Mark.

I just replaced the cable and it shifted like new.

The old cable had a wear mark that wore through the rubber/plastic coating, then corrosion took over inside the cable.

To see if it's the cable, disconnect it at the trans and see if it's still tight when you move the shifter.

Thankyou. Is the cable available via parts stores or dealer only or was your swap from a junk yard.

I got mine new from Max, I think it's a dealer only part. I wouldn't waste my time taking a used one out of a junker.

It's not that complicated, just a lot of fiddley stuff. You have to remove the console of course, then you pull out the "bucket" that holds the shifter, disconnect the cable ect. No special tools needed.:)
