Had the Mark at the track today. Picked it up last night - had the air ride to coil conversion done, and I am planning to take it next weekend to try out for a spot on the TV show Pass Time on the Speed Channel.

SDR is a couple hour drive - 150 miles or so, and I let it cool down for about 2 hours before the first run. It was 85 degrees on the first run, and 87 degrees on the second. JW worked on my trans tune with Aric a few weeks back, and this was the first time at the track since then, so I did not know what to expect. For some unknown reason, the first run, the 1-2 bounced off the limiter, shift, then a short 2-3 shift, then a down shift back to 2, then to 3 again, then TC lockup. That was a lot of drama for a 1/4 mile :)

The second run, 1-2 bounce off the limiter, 2-3 were good, and then lockup around the 1k ft mark. I was hoping they were able to keep the tc from locking, but not today.

I ran on street 285 Toyo T1R tires, launching off idle.

All in all, it was a good day for The Mark. lol The C6 and S281 did not though :)

Congrats! :D

Too bad for the C6 and Saleen. You shouldn't be pickin' on poor little street cars Mike. :p

So what's up with the tranny tune???

Thanks JP and Serge. I wish I knew what is up with the trans tune JP. My last two outings to the track, the trans did the same wacky thing on the first run, while the second run was ok - except for the tc locking up at the 1k ft mark. Looks like the problem is costing me almost 2 tenths though on the first pass.

I might have to have Aric put the manual shift tune back in it, and get me a shift light to hide somewhere for track racing if this can't be sorted out. :(

I would suspect something either temperature limited or just a flaky intermittent connection somewhere. I know you have the best of the best working behind the scenes on the Mark, but I'm more curious than anything else.

Have they datalogged the transmission anomaly at the track?

I do not think he has captured it. My hunch is more mechanical. My ABS has not worked since the brakes were done, and I suspect it might have something to do with it.

Those are very good times for street tires.
I would not put manual shift tune back in it as I was manually shifting for over 2 years and didn't like it. Manually shifting is okay for slower cars but on 11 sec car the RPM's are going too fast and you will have a hard time to shift at the RPM's you like to shift. When I was manually shifting I shifted too late many times from 1st to 2nd gear and hit my rev limiter and many times I also short shifted and the car didn't stay in it's power band. With proper shifting automatic trans it's so easy to drive those cars at the race track.

Mike, they need to reposition the abs exciter rings on the cobra hubs. They are in different position in relation to the abs sensor. I don't think they have done it. What do you mean it doesn't work ? Does it give any codes ? Did they read the sensor output via ABS test unit ?

Thanks. I agree with you. That is why I think if I had to go manual, I would need a shift light. Things happen real fast like you say. Aric is going to work on it tomorrow at the track. He said that he did not unlock the converter, and will change that and make some changes tomorrow to the tune to see if he can fix the problems and make this thing go a little better down the track. It is really hard to trans tune this car with street tires, so the slicks might go back on the car at the track. I agree also, that you have to keep the revs up if you want to stay in the power band.

Thanks for the info, Jeremi. I will pass it along to Aric. I know he spent alot of time on the hubs to get the ARP racing studs to fit, including some machining. He put his rotunda tool on it to check for codes, and he replaced the relay and pump. That did not work, so I pulled the big 30 amp fuse to drive the car, and that is where it stands now. Everytime the brakes were touched, the pump would go off. I do not remember what the codes were, but there were multiple codes. I do not recall them using a ABS test unit on the sensors.
