Silverstar Signal Lighting

I was perusing the auto parts store one day and came across some Sylvania Silverstars... not for the headlamps, but parking/turnsignal lamps. Always wanting to be on the cutting edge of technology, I couldn't resist.

3057ST is the part number and here's what they look like installed:

More info may be had at:

BTW, when they are on at they look no different than the generic amber bulbs.

Hey, what do you think of them new headlamp assemblies!:) I'm still prowling for new park lamp assemblies. I've already replaced the turnsignal/side markers, and with the new headlamps all I need is new park lamps for all new front lighting on the LSC. Well, at least until I get the urge for the high dollar fog lamps.

RE: Silverstar Signal Lighting

Do dealerships still sell parts for Mark VII's?

Some parts, yes, assuming you want to pay their price. The replacement lamp housings I came across at different times on eBay. The turn signal/cornering lamps were used but mint and both headlamps were NIB old stock. Not cheap but cheaper than local dealer pricing assuming they could get it. Still watching for the elusive park lamp assemblies though. There is a huge market for Mark VII parts from what I've seen.

RE: Silverstar Signal Lighting

Are you saying the 3057ST is a clear bulb, but burns with a full amber light color? How do they do that?

The bulb unlit is a bluish tint and burns the same as a generic amber bulb. A quote from their site:

SYLVANIA's SilverStar amber signal bulbs feature the latest breakthrough in European Diadem™ interference coating technology to produce a signal lamp that is sparkling iridescent blue when unlit, and legal amber color when lit.

Pretty cool I think, especially for newer cars with the projector style lamps.
