Sniper Tuning Software...worth the money??

I will have to say yes. I purchased the special forces software and was able to flash 3 different settings after learning how to use it yesterday afternoon. The difference is substancial. And it allows unlimited number of tunes for 2 seperate vehicles. You can add more vehicles by purchasing more "bullits" which is just passwords for the program.

The tech department is VERY helpful and knowledgeable. How much can they know about our cars??? One of the programmers has a Tbird with a Mark VIII motor...he seemed excited to have a Mark VIII guy using his software. I still have some tuning issues to work out, but it's nothing I can't get passed. I'm using this program as my stepping stone to get me started in the "tuning" business. Hopefully one day in the near future alot of you will look to me for your tuning needs...until then please ask questions and check out their site... www.snipertuning.com .

I was looking at that too. I need a GM chip for my truck to get rid of the 99MPH governor and to give me more ign. advance with the 5 spd ceiling room in the RPM dept. Their website says it can do both GM and FoMoCo.???

I'm not sure if it will work on most vehicles...I need to contact them and find out for sure.

Ok, Alan, what do you want to know? All the parameters that it can modify? Or do you want power numbers or what? I can't offer power gains at the moment as I don't have either the time or money for a dyno run, but hopefully pretty soon.

I want to know alot more, all of the above. I would like to see a system out there that can compete with sct, but as far as I have seen nothing really does.

I paid $378 shipped to my door. But that was a sale price. Normal prices are between $420 to $460.

As I said earlier it doesn't allow you to pull DTC's or data log unless you buy their other software or one of their other systems. I can tune 2 vehicles for the price listed above and "bullits" are $200 to tune other vehicles. And it allows unlimited files per vehicle. I've created 6 different tunes for my car already, mostly learning the ins and outs of the program. It allows me to change virtually anything on the car without having to have a tune added or buying anything else. It goes as far as to have parameters for different displacement, compression ratio, power adders--but not 2 at a time like a blower with spray, amount of boost pressure, different fuel systems, egr on or off, rear o2's, headers, different midpipes, different cat back's, timing for low, mid and high rpm ranges, fuel for the same, global fuel and rpm changes, shift points by rpm or mph, shift firmness, PATS on/off, gear and tire size changes, maf location, size and brand, rev limiter, speed limiter (110, 120, 130, 140, and unlimited mph settings), idle speed, cooling fan temps for low and high speeds, and I'm sure that I'm missing some things. Also this software is capable of burning chips for OBD I + II cars, but can only write OBD II. To burn I just have to buy the burner which is cheap and the chip blanks which are $239 as compared to SCT's $300 blanks. And I can get free programs for OBD I cars unless it's something custom then it's $100 charge and is emailed directly to me.

I've been looking into SCT and Predator stuff for a while and I like them just fine. But Sniper makes it alot easier to get into tuning, and more affordable. I don't expect everyone to believe me until I start posting time slips and dynographs, but my car is significantly better than it was and right now that's keeping me on cloud nine. So yes I will still admit that SCT is a great company and has great products, but for me Sniper was the way to go and after I find me a reliable, cheap laptop I'll get the datalogging software and rent some dyno time to perfect my setup then I'll post some numbers on what it will do.
