stock 94 base with MSD coils/wires, CAI, 1 step hotter spark plug, j-mod shift kit 3200 stall, and on 245/50 R16 street bridgestone street tires and so far i have pulled a 9.469@ 75.80 mph in the 1/8th with a 2.049 60' still on stock rear gears. how much do you think a set of 3.73 gears, posi, and a set of 255 nitto 555R's would help me? as it is now i spin off the line some times and others it just hooks and leaves.

That's a very good sixty foot for the mods you have. The limited slip differential will do more than the 3.73s but if I were you, I'd get the drag radials and see how that does first. Personally, I can't tolerate traction issues. I just want to mash and go! :D

I was pulling 1.8's with pretty much the same set up but with a Ford Trac-Loc and 4.10's.

Sounds like decent times. I actually expected it to be faster but you have stock gears. I just don't understand why everyone hates 3.73's so bad? Devin runs them and it made a big difference over stock. Plus I thought that anything bigger than 3.73's runs into problems with ring gear size? A traction lock and 3.73's and drag radials would definitely put you into the 1.xx 60 foot times. :D

3.73s are fine... 3.90s are fine also.. I had both. I wouldn't want 4.10s the RPMS are just way too high.

Shoot....at 75 MPH I was running 3kish RPMs, that aint bad. 23MPG in a 13 second car is pretty decent. :)

Its not that 3.73's are bad, its the fact that you're paying 500+ dollars and if you don't like the outcome its not an easy thing to fix. This is one of those situations if you're gonna go big, go big....expecially since you've already turned the mark into a racecar. With all your mods, I don't see you being too concerned with MPG. Don't waste your time on 3.73's.

the car does see a bit of highway time though the 4.10s will suck on the highway with the RPM's being so high. you paid $500 for your gears installed? they saw you coming i can pick up a set of low mileage gears for way under $100 then a install kit with bearings is about $70-80. then take them and the car to one of the shops i know here and have them help me do the install. i dont see me with much more then $200 at the most in my gears installed.

its all about what you can do to your car not what you can have some one do for you. anyone with enough money can say ya look at what i had the shop build for me. its thats not what racing is all about to me its about getting dirty with your car and building it your self. that just makes winning that much more fun to be able to beat that guy with a car that YOU your self built not what that shop built for you.

there is a guy here like that he has a bad ass lexis IS300 putting down about 750 hp running 7.20's in the 8th off the bottle. its a nice clean quick car but he did not turn a wrench on it titan motorsports built it for him. to me thats like going out and buying a viper yes its phast as crap but you bought it like that thats no fun.

Where's the traction-lock differential? Where's the rebuild kit for the used traction-lock? Where's the gear oil and additive? Where's the speedo gear, axle nut(s), seals and bearings?

I bought new 4.10 gears for $149, installation kit for $78, axle nuts/bearings/seals for $49, used traction-lock differential for $90 and a rebuild kit for $39. $75 for misc. items like speedo gear, gear oil, friction additive and aggregate shipping brought the total to just under $500.

And yes, I built it. I put them in a used carrier and installed it myself, selling the stock center section to recoup the cost of the used one.

For the total cost, I wasn't risking used gears, bearings and seals. Even then, $200 would be wayyyy cheap for this swap.

Yeah, I paid 4xx$ for my Eaton, plus installation. No gear swap...kept the 3.07 gears.

Honestly....with 4.10's I made several 2 and 3 hour trips to my family's place and still got 23MPH. Would you rather get 25MPH with 3.73's and not get the performance you want, or take a hit on MPH and have some fun?

No....I installed my gears/rear end. I paid 180 for the gears, 237 for a brand new Ford Trac-Loc, 90 for a bearing kit and misc. fluid. Factor in my time and if you're spending 500+ for a gear swap that you're not going to like, thats a waste of money in my opinion....

Also...I'm glad you can get a cheapy bearing kit, some used gears, and find some hole in the wall shop to hook you up. I know my diff will outlast the car, do you trust that your used gears, cheap bearing kit and hole in the wall shop will last you through all the mods you plan on doing? Do you trust it enough to save 100 bucks........

its all about what you can do to your car not what you can have some one do for you.

Look at my cardomain, or looks at some of my write ups on here.....you're preaching to the choir.... Take the advise as you will....but don't insult me, I do ALL my own work.

hole in the wall shops? i dont mess with hole in the wall shops i have 2 buddys that i could go to. one is waibel competition he runs NHRA B/SA with his 96 camaro that was built from the ground up by him and his dad. do a google search for Jimmy Waibel he cant be to bad off if he is in the NHRA hall of fame. the other shop i could go to one of the owners drives a turbo 383 85 trans am that has pegged out his 200 mph auto meeter speedo quite a few times. they have built several vetts from stock to pretty wild have taken quite a few older muscle and put them down the track pretty quick for customers.
