I always thought of it as my mark VIIIs little older and uglier cousin. Goodbye 1993 Mercury Cougar. Last night at 10pm I sold the car that was in the family for longer than the mark. The cougar did have it's quirks but overall it was a good solid ride.
The Cougar was bought back in 2000, with 65k miles for $5300. And it was driven until 111,640 miles. Parts replaced/failed. 1 set of tires, 1 set of brakes, 1 IAC valve, 2 headgaskets. That is it.
A tree fell on the damn thing back in 2004 so after a claim with the insurance they totaled it because of "paint damage" that was not noticeable because the car showed a lot of Oxidation. I bought the car back for $55 lol :7
Last night it sold for $1250 cash (even though it had a salvage title). Odd part is it was sold to the first person that actually came to take a look at the car. The car was running very very good, but it was not a looker.
So now that reduces the family fleet to.
1996 Mark VIII
1998 Crown Vic
2000 Accord V6
2003 Grand Cherokee
