shows like overhaulin make it all look like a picnic but anyone who has ever done what i got my self into knows its ALOT of work lol. pulling a quarter off without cutting it is huge labor, not to mention going through drill bits and getting the drill so hot you cant hold it! there must of been 200 welds on this quarter. i still have to section part of the trunk and put in the new passenger side drop off, weld in the new wheel house, put the rear passenger quarter window back in and then weld up the new quarter. i just have the quarter sitting on clamped to see how it fits, i got some trimming and cleaning to do to the car itself but the quarter is gonna fit like factory man its a really nice reproduction, and the best part is there isnt a single flaw in it, its perfect. i wasnt going to do this yet, but my buddy chad, the owner, hung out at the shop last night and we went from talking about the car to this....

and dont worry martin, lol there is still plenty for to help me with, i didnt forget about you!!

Gee, thanks Jamie!

Looking good though, so far. It will end up looking better than it did from the
factory!

I've been reading up on some muscle car restorations and about how it pains some restorers to reproduce flaws such as poor panel alignment, overspray and orange peel for the sake of originality. Some even go as far as to purposely drip weather stripping glue on the trunk floor!

me too! but thats still al ong ways away. he was gonna live with the drivers quarter and i was just gonna massage it back to decent but after hanging this one on i told him with all the new stuff on here you cant leave the drivers quarter on. i said lets do both, so he's ordering that too. the only thing that will still be original is the roof and both doors, everything else will be replaced, even the front inner wheel houses too. i will end up painting the engine bay back like original, the fire wall will be body color and the rest will be satin black. i may even clean up the firewall and do some filling and shaving depending on if he puts the factory air back in or not. he is undecided. i'm making progress though!! wait till i can get some pics of the new heart transplant for it, he bought one hell of a street/strip built 468 for it, this thing is gonna move. the best payoff for me will actually be being able to take her for a ride down the street. after all this work that will be really cool to have the chance to drive it too!

lucky!! lol your doing the same thing i would love to make a living doing. either restoring old cars or building race cars i would be happy with either. i just gotta find somewhere to make my start and learn the rest of what i dont know. i would say if i lived closer i would help you with your rebuild in return for the experience i would gain but your kinda a long drive for me with the gas prices the way they are and the millage this thing gets.
