Well i'm pissed, woke up this morning and found the passenger door open with the locking cylinder punched out and my head unit gone and my ignition tampered with. I went to the dealership to find out that they discontinued the 94 locking cylinder kit that i need to replace the damage. So i need some help!!!! i could get a 95 locking cylinder and build it but would this work for my 94? my car has the illuminated key ring and the anti-theft. So far i have been quoted for an estimate around 750.00 dollars to just replace the locking cylinder and the ignition, but i found out that they don't even carry them anymore from max at 5 star ford.. So any suggestion would be great and fast.. thanks in advance, JOE

RE: Somebody tried to steal my Mark

Are you talking about the lock on the door? Just put a little filler in there and have it painted. Remove the linkage too. If you can't afford to have it painted, get some "dupli-color" spray cans and just paint the immediate area around the lock and door handle. if you don't have some fancy color, it should look passable. When someone popped the lock on my thunderturd when i was 16 i just used some epoxy filler. It wasn't body filler, it was harder and stronger. Normally you don't want to fill a hole with body filler, but some "quik-steel" or something like it should work fine. Not the "right" way to do it, but "another way that works".

Sorry to hear about your car getting broken into. My other suggestion would be to track them down and cut their fingers off with a hacksaw, but of course that's a no-brainer.

RE: Somebody tried to steal my Mark

The advice I have for you concerns the question as to **IF** you have a dent (or depression) around your key lock? If you do, you'll get a better job of fixing it if you contact a Dent Dr or one of those services. A body shop will fill the area with bondo, sand & prime and then repaint the door, which then will not match the front fender or rear quarter, and they'll charge you a few hundered for so doing. Get a dent remover guy. He'll heat the area and take the dent out without having to repaint anything. In the end, it will look as it did last week! He will charge between $75.00 and $135.00 and worth every dollar.
My Son's Cherokee was the subject of an attempted rape and BOTH doorlocks were punched. They could not get in, and it was not stolen, but we had good sized dents in the sheet metal around & below the key holes. You would never know it, now. DentDr made it brandy new! :)

RE: Somebody tried to steal my Mark

I need some help on actually the lock cylinder its self. i was trying to say that FORD has discontinued making the 94 locking cylinder kit, so that means max at 5 star ford can't get em and pretty much nobody has those in stock adn its a dealer item only. Max did say there is a 95 build kit for a locking cylinder for each individual door. Will that work on my 94? the 95 doesn't come with the illuminated key ring or the anti theft. Has anybody done this before? or could i find some junk mark viii and use the locking cylinders off of that? Thanks

Auto Salvage Yard time! Start calling around and see who has a 1994 Mark 8 in the yard. If you are not equipped to do it yourself, take someone with you who can remove it properly. I am pretty sure a real good lock guy can take a mold of the lock & cut you a key to fit & work.

RE: Somebody tried to steal my Mark

You have keyless entry, right? Just fill the hole in. At least then nobody's going to try to break in on that side again.

RE: Somebody tried to steal my Mark

I have a 95 and it does have the light rings around the lock cylinders. The car also has the anti theft but not sure if it is integrated with the door locks. I do know that one time I reached in through the open window to pop the hood and the theft alarm went off. I'll try to open the door through the opened window with the door locked to see if that will set off the alarm. Good luck on your search for a fix.

RE: Somebody tried to steal my Mark

I'm thinking about that now, stop the bastards from breaking my locks. If its going to be a lot or at least more then a few hundred i think i might as well just shave the door handles and install a remote door opener and be done with it.

you'll set the alarm off. You'll even set it off if you reach in, press the unlock button and then open the door too.
