Something's not quite right.

Yesterday I had a shop replace the VB in my xmsn. They were also suppose to replace the 1-2 and 2-3 accum. but I don't think they did. I didn't pay for that anyway. They did put Mercron V in it though.

They showed me what they thought was sand or fine glass residue in the pan and all over the bottom of the case and on the VB. The shifter linkage on the old VB wouldn't go all the way into the VB like it was jammed or bent. I had them clean it the best they could with Kooler Klean and put the new one in. I figured fo a while it had to be better than the old one. At least until I can afford another xmsn.

Before, under city driving, it would shift hard into 2nd, long and soft into 3rd, it would shift irratically at low speeds like it couldn't find the right gear and stay in it. But, when really getting on it at WOT it would shift nice and firm all the way up to highway speed. Also it would kick down a bit too far when going into passing gear.

Now it shifts nice into 2nd and still a tad soft into 3rd and seems to stay where it should in 35-50mph traffic but when you WOT it does a slight hesitation and then lurches into 2nd and the same with 3rd. Also does kinda the same thing when kicking down to passing gear at 70mph.

I wasn't too sure about the way that 2-3 accum. goes in there with no snapring, but the manual didn't show one either. There was a groove for one though. Maybe why the 2-3 shift is so soft?

Does anyone have any thoughts on what the deal is with this?

Oh, the 1-2 spring wasn't broke but was quite weak. It was pink. They didn't know if that was the right one or not so they just put it back in.
