Sometimes it's the little things...

I realize this isn't interesting at all to anyone, but I'm easily amused I guess. So go easy on me.

When I had the car at Jeremi's way back in August of 2011 to redo the rear of the car, we removed the completely rotted out emission tray and bracket. I only had a powdercoated tray, but no bracket. So Jeremi rigged up a little bracket to hang the front of the tray from, and it's been that way since. It's worked fine, but of course I need to have it back they it's supposed to be.

Fast forward to last year, I bought a used bracket from somebody. I even went to the trouble of powdercoating it too. Problem was, it turned out to be bent/tweaked and I couldn't get the holes to line up with the floor pan. I beat it with a mallet, pulled, pushed, and tried to get it to line up and just wouldn't. Every time I tried to bend it, it would get even more distorted. I finally gave up and moved on.

The car's been in storage at a friend's house all winter and I went over today to check it out and get ready for some work. I decided to give the bracket another try, and this time I finally got it bent right to fit, although it's still a little off. Oh well, this isn't a concourse restoration.

Victory is mine!

I installed some of that gooey butyrate tape like it came from the factory. For the holes I took a piece of brass tube and sharpened the end then used it as a punch.
